2 Doelen ICT Delft RC De bepaling van het algemene beleid van de TU Delft op het gebied van onderzoek in de ICT, Het initiëren van gebiedsoverschrijdende programma s, Het stimuleren van de participatie in grote nationale en internationale inspanningen op het ICT gebied, Het coördineren van elkaar s research programma en Het gezamenlijk op de wereldkaart zetten van de Delftse research, In nauwe samenwerking met partners bij andere universiteiten en het bedrijfsleven.

3 Zwaartepunt ICT Delft RC De gebruikersomgeving: aandacht voor apparaten, sensoren en actuatoren bij de groepen die horen bij DIMES, gebruikersintelligentie bij de isc groepen, de draadloze communicatieomgeving bij het IRCTR/CWPC, en de gerelateerde services bij DITSE.

5 The ICT Delft Research Centre We have over 500 researchers focussing on the human dimension in modern ICT, investing the user's environment, emphasizing the Wireless Environment and Intelligent Products, our chosen WEIPfocus: 'Wireless communications and ambient intelligence will become more and more essential in satisfying our daily yearning for information and control. The communication and intelligence will be available whenever and wherever we need it, but it will be transparent much like the air we breathe. It will be everywhere and commonplace, we will not have to be aware of the underlying technology, but we will have adequate control over it.'

8 Voorstel hoofdfocus ICT Delft RC: The human centered intelligent environment 1. Interagerende systemen in de gebruikersomgeving (sensoren, actuatoren, zendontvangers, processors, robots, mensen); 2. communicatie in zijn meest directe vormen (ad hoc, context gevoelig, adaptief, coherent, veilig, op de mens gericht, intelligent); 3. knowledge engineering (het verwerven, verwerken, interpreteren, abstraheren, organiseren van informatie) 4. de gebruikerseigenschappen (MMI) van de intelligente, communicerende apparatuur, het ontstaan van nieuwe gedragspatronen, emerging behaviour ; 5. het aanbieden van nieuwe diensten die gebruikmaken van de nieuwe mogelijkheden die de human centered intelligent environment biedt.
