6 Algemeen Toelatingsvoorwaarden De master-na-masteropleidingen zijn toegankelijk voor houders van een masterdiploma behaald aan een universiteit of hogeschool. Informatie over welke masterdiploma s toegang verlenen tot een bepaalde master-na-master, vind je terug per opleiding. Belangrijk Vanaf 1 juli 2005 werden de academische graden van Licentiaat, Handelsingenieur, Bio-ingenieur, Arts, Apotheker, Gediplomeerde in de Aanvullende of Gespecialiseerde Studie, behaald vóór het academiejaar , gelijkgeschakeld met deze van Master. Wie één van deze graden behaalde, mag de titel van Master voeren. Contracten Diplomacontract Je schrijft in met de bedoeling een diploma te behalen via deelname aan de onderwijs activiteiten en de examens. Creditcontract Als je niet de intentie hebt om een diploma te behalen maar wel wil deelnemen aan de onderwijsactiviteiten en de examens van één of enkele opleidingsonderdelen, kan je inschrijven met een creditcontract. Sommige opleidings onderdelen kunnen niet gevolgd worden via een creditcontract. Examencontract Een examencontract geeft je de mogelijkheid om een diploma en/of creditbewijzen te behalen via het deelnemen aan de examens. Je mag geen lessen volgen of deelnemen aan de onderwijs activiteiten. Sommige opleidingen en opleidings onderdelen kunnen niet gevolgd worden via een examencontract. Inschrijvingen Wanneer? Van 1 juli 2011 tot en met 30 september elke werkdag van 9 tot uur (data onder voorbehoud). Raadpleeg voor de exacte periodes en de sluitingsdagen. Hoe? Als je je voor de eerste maal aan de Universiteit Antwerpen inschrijft of je schrijft je na een onderbreking opnieuw in, meld je je persoonlijk aan bij studenten administratie op de Stadscampus. Je brengt volgende originele documenten mee: de ingevulde toetredingsovereenkomst (te bekomen via de website), je identiteitskaart en alle relevante diploma s (secundair, hoger en universitair onderwijs). 8 Arbeidsgeneeskunde (120 sp.) Interuniversitaire opleiding Doelstellingen Het algemeen doel van de Master in Arbeidsgeneeskunde is, via efficiënt gebruik van verschillende onderwijsvormen, de student in staat te stellen als preventie-adviseur-arbeidsgeneeskundige de gezondheid en het welzijn van werknemers in en door hun werk te bevorderen, beschermen en behouden. Achtergrond hierbij is dat Arbeidsgeneeskunde: veeleer preventieve geneeskunde, en zelden curatieve geneeskunde is; zich richt zowel naar het individu als naar het collectief; een multidisciplinaire benadering en samenwerking inhoudt; zich beweegt in het spanningsveld tussen meerdere actoren, o.a. werknemer, werkgever, wetgever, vakbond,... een wetenschappelijke basis nastreeft voor haar functioneren (evidence-based occupational medicine). De bedrijfsarts in opleiding kan reeds vanaf het eerste jaar van de Masteropleiding deeltijds onder toezicht werken in een externe of interne preventiedienst. Doelgroep Doctor in de genees-, heel- en verloskunde, arts of Master in de geneeskunde. Toelatingsvoorwaarden De opleiding tot Master in de Arbeidsgeneeskunde staat open voor houders van een diploma van doctor in de genees-, heel- en verloskunde, arts of master in de geneeskunde, die zich in de arbeids geneeskunde willen bekwamen. Evaluatie en diploma De master na master opleiding Arbeidsgeneeskunde duurt 2 jaar, en bestaat uit hoorcolleges, practica, stages en masterproef. Nadien volgt een permanente vorming van 2 jaar (stage in een erkende dienst voor preventie en bescherming op het werk onder begeleiding van een erkende stagemeester). 8

9 Studieprogramma Het programma Arbeidsgeneeskunde is modulair opgebouwd en omvat 5 modules met elk één of meerdere opleidingsonderdelen. Module I: Mens en Arbeid Deze module gaat in op de individuele relatie mens-arbeid (bedrijfsarts-werknemer). Opleidingsonderdelen: Arbeidsfysiologie, Gezondheidseffecten door chemische agentia, Gezondheidseffecten door fysische agentia, Gezondheidseffecten door biologische agentia, Probleemgeoriënteerde gevallenbespreking, Arbeids- en milieutoxicologie; Module II: Mens en bedrijf Deze module gaat in op de relatie werknemer-bedrijf. Opleidingsonderdelen: Arbeidshygiëne, Methoden van risico-analyse, -evaluatie en beheersing, Ergonomie, Arbeidsveiligheid, Psychologie van arbeid en gezondheid, Arbeidsorganisatie. Module III: Arbeid en maatschappij Deze module situeert de arbeid in de context van maatschappij en organisatie. Opleidingsonderdelen: Organisatie en taken van de arbeidsgeneeskunde, Arbeidsrecht, Medische evaluatie van arbeidsongeschiktheid en menselijke schade, Milieugezondheidkunde. Module IV: Onderzoeksmethoden en praktijkvaardigheden Opleidingsonderdelen: Epidemiologie, biostatistiek en kwalitatieve onderzoeksmethoden, Seminarie en praktijkgerichte vaardigheden. 10 Archivistiek: erfgoed- en hedendaags documentbeheer (60 sp.) Interuniversitaire opleiding De master na master Archivistiek: erfgoed beheer en hedendaags documentbeheer is een universitaire archiefopleiding. Sinds 1993 werken de Vrije Universiteit Brussel, de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven en de Universiteit Gent samen om deze specialisatieopleiding aan te bieden. Sinds het academiejaar maakt ook de Universiteit Antwerpen deel uit van deze Master Archivistiek. Doelstellingen De opleiding bereidt voor op een carrière met administratieve en/ of culturele dimensie. Het is de enige opleiding die archivarissen/ documentbeheerders vormt op Vlaams universitair niveau. Afgestudeerden vinden we zowel in overheidsinstellingen als in bedrijven. Toelatingsvoorwaarden Afgestudeerden Master in de Geschiedenis (voorheen Licentiaat in de Geschiedenis) hebben rechtstreeks toegang tot deze opleiding. Studieprogramma - 60 sp. Het curriculum bestaat uit archivistische vakken, keuzevakken, een stage en een masterproef. De verplichte vakken worden in Brussel gedoceerd, de keuzevakken kunnen ook in Antwerpen, Gent en Leuven worden gevolgd. De opleiding kan voltijds (in 1 jaar) of deeltijds (in 2 jaar) worden gevolgd. 10

12 Development Evaluation and Management (60 sp.) Programme in English - IOB Programme content The Master s in Development Evaluation and Management focuses on the efforts made by a wide range of public and private actors to promote development in low-income countries. It provides a solid understanding of past and present aid policies of multilateral and bilateral donors, and of the major aid modalities and instruments deployed. The institutional characteristics of the actors involved be they governments, community-based organisations, international NGOs, bilateral or multilateral donors are analysed so as to attain a better understanding of processes and outcomes. The theoretical perspective is that development can be understood as a set of interlocking collective action problems, on both the recipient and the donor side. The Master s programme offers methodological and practical insights into development evaluation, its relevance and challenges. The DEM programme offers two tracks with specific objectives and course packages that are intended for different audiences. The first track is primarily macro focused, while the second focuses mainly on the micro level. Objectives The Master s will improve the students capacity to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the prevailing aid paradigms and the changing approaches to aid. Students will learn to appreciate the importance of different institutional arenas, and how they work and interact. They will be familiarised with multidisciplinary analytical tools that will improve their capacity to analyse the interactions and contribute to an enhanced conceptualisation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development policies and programmes. General admission requirements Applicants from the South must hold a university degree (Bachelor or Master) of at least 4 years of study in social sciences (Economics, Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, or related disciplines). Applicants from the South who hold a Bachelor s degree of only 3 years of study must demonstrate very strong and relevant professional experience and/or have successfully completed additional training. Applicants from the North must hold a Master s degree in Social Sciences. Only applicants with excellent academic records will be accepted. Our ideal participant has at least 2 years of professional experience in a sector relevant to the programme. Applicants from the North should have relevant field experience in the South. Applicants must be proficient in English. Special language facilities are offered for students from other language backgrounds. Study Programma Courses (for more details about the courses, see Track 1: The Macro Dimensions of Aid Module I (12 weeks 18 credits) Theories of Development: provides an overview of recent evolutions in the literature on the politics and economics of development, and on poverty and inequality Research Methods I and II: update of contemporary quantitative and qualitative research methods, possibilities for combining these methods and applying them within ongoing development processes. 12

13 Module II - Evaluating development effectiveness (9 weeks 12 credits) This module starts with an overview of the debate on development effectiveness. Students are introduced to different theoretical frameworks for gaining an understanding of methodically analysing actors and outcomes. Part II of the module focuses on the scientific evaluation of development effectiveness. It thoroughly examines the tools employed in monitoring and evaluation, and discusses methods of evaluation. By the end of this module, students are able to apply both quantitative and qualitative techniques in addressing the leading development evaluation challenges. Module III - Managing aid (9 weeks 12 credits) The vantage point at the start of this module is the current debate on aid architecture launched around the turn of the millennium and confirmed in the Paris Declaration (2005) and the Accra Agenda for Action (2008). The underlying theory of the new aid approach, the aid modalities and instruments that are promoted, and the roles envisaged for the key actors (donors, governments, civil society) are all studied in depth. The module also assesses the present state of implementation of the aid architecture and analyses the challenges for the future. Module IV - Dissertation (15 weeks 18 credits) To be developed on the basis of one of the assignments written at the end of either module II or III. Track 2: Development Interventions and Local Institutional Change Module I (12 weeks 18 credits) Theories of Development: provides an overview of recent evolutions in the literature on the politics and economics of development, and on poverty and inequality Research Methods I and II: update of contemporary quantitative and qualitative research methods, possibilities for combining these methods and applying them within ongoing development processes. 14 Economics of Globalisation and European Integration (60 sp.) Programme in English - Interuniversitary General Philosophy This masters programme in economics is essentially gearedto students interested in careers in research, in government and international organisations, and in the research and strategy departments of large banks and industrial and commercial corporations. Partners The programme is organised by a consortium of nine partner universities: Universiteit Antwerpen, Antwerp, Belgium Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro, Bari, Italy Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium Universidad de Cantabria, Santander, Spain Université Lille 1, Sciences et Technologies, France Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze, Czech Republic Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent, UK Xiamen University, Xiamen, P.R. China Universidade de Brasília, Brasília DF, Brazil. Diploma The diploma leads to a M.A. Economics of Globalisation and European Integration. The diplomas are jointly awarded by the partners and are signed by the Rector, President or Vice- Chancellor of each partner university. In July 2002 the M.A. was selected by the EUA (European University Association) to participate in the EUA Pilot Project Joint Masters in Europe. The project is supported by the DG for Education and Culture of the European Commission. In September 2005 the M.A. was selected by the European Commission as an Erasmus MUNDUS Masters Course. The programme started operating as such from the academic year onwards. For the academic year the M.A. received the Erasmus Mundus label. There will however be no EM scholarships available during that year. Structure of the Programme The Masters programme has a workload of 60 ECTS credits, the taught part consisting of 45 credits and the dissertation 15 credits. The study programme is fulltime and runs over 12 months. It is taught by staff of the nine partner institutions. Time schedule First term at Université Lille 1, Sciences et Technologies: mid September to the end of December In the first term students study at Université Lille 1, Sciences et Technologies in France. They will study the following subjects: Advanced Microeconomics (6 credits) Advanced Macroeconomics (6 credits) Applied Econometrics (6 credits) Mathematics for Economists (optional, 2 credits) French Language (optional, 2 credits) Second term at Universiteit Antwerpen: January to the start of the Easter vacation At the end of the first term students move from France to Belgium where the courses of the 2nd term are taught at Universiteit Antwerpen. International Trade: Theory and Policy (6 credits) Open Economy Macroeconomics (4 credits) 14

15 Economics of European Integration, Part 1 (4 credits) Special Topics in Applied Econometrics (optional, 5 credits) Dutch Language (optional, 2 credits) Third term at Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze: end of the Easter vacation to the end of June The whole group moves to the Czech Republic for the third part of the course. Economics of Globalisation (4 credits) Economics of European Integration, Part 2 (2 credits) Special Topics in International Finance (optional, 5 credits) Special Topics in International Trade (optional, 5 credits) Economics of Regulation (optional, 5 credits) Czech Language (optional, 2 credits). Students should choose one subject from the list of Advanced subjects option courses and one subject from the list of Skills option courses. They may however choose more option courses from both lists. Only the best marks from both lists will be used to calculate the overall GPA. The students finalise their dissertation (15 credits in total) during the summer and the deadline for submission is 30 September During the second term they have to hand in a short (credited) dissertation brief. Feedback is given in the Academic Writing option course (2 ECTS credits). A precise timetable will be made available separately. Admissssion Criteria and Enrolment Procedure The programme is open to students who have earned 240 ECTS credits in an economics or applied economics university study programme or have a bachelor degree in these areas that are considered by the Joint Studies Board to be equivalent. Applicants who are enrolled in the final year of their academic programme should submit an official letter in English from their university confirming that the student is expected to finalise his/her course at the end of the current academic year, and submit up-to-date authenticated transcripts with the results of the previous years. The proficiency in English of the students of the participating universities is checked by the local academic coordinators. Students from other universities should submit proof of a computer-based TOEFL level of minimum 230 (or its equivalent in the so-called next generation TOEFL score system), or an IELTS grade of at least 6.5, or submit proof of having studied at least one academic year in an English-language programme. The selection criteria are common to all students and relate primarily to study results. All candidates should submit the appropriate application form on the website. The application deadline is May 31, Financial Aspects The tuition fee for non-eu students is 7.000,- euro, and 3.300,- euro for EU students. All students enroll at one of the partner universities. 16 Fiscaal Recht (60 sp.) Doelstellingen De opleiding wil een diepgaande kennis en onderzoeksvaardigheid verschaffen in de diverse deelgebieden van het fiscaal recht. Gelet op de vaak onduidelijke en snel wijzigende belastingwetteksten, wordt bij de opleiding de nadruk gelegd op het bijbrengen van vaardigheden om zelfstandig, creatief en synthesegericht de belasting wetgeving te bestuderen. In dit licht wordt uiteraard aandacht besteed aan de wisselwerking tussen het belastingrecht enerzijds en de andere rechtstakken en de economische disciplines anderzijds. Doelgroep Deze opleiding richt zich tot juristen en economen. Toelatingsvoorwaarden Het programma is toegankelijk voor houders van een academisch diploma van: Licentiaat/Master in de rechten Licentiaat/Master in de economische of toegepaste economische wetenschappen Handelsingenieur (universitair of hogeschool) Licentiaat/Master in de handelswetenschappen Niet-juristen moeten slagen in een schriftelijke toelatingsproef met mondelinge toelichting, onder het toezicht van de coördinator, Prof. dr. Bruno Peeters. Ter voorbereiding van de schriftelijke toelatingsproef worden tijdens de laatste week van augustus en de eerste week van september colleges gehouden over de basisprincipes van publiek- en privaatrecht. Informatie hierover kan worden bekomen op het secretariaat van het programma. De proef vindt plaats begin juli en medio september. Voorafgaande inschrijving is verplicht bij het secretariaat van het programma. Samenwerking Universiteit Antwerpen E.S.S.F. Voor meer informatie over de samenwerking tussen de Universiteit Antwerpen en de Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Fiscales de Bruxelles (E.S.S.F.), verwijzen wij naar onze brochure of onze website. Diploma en erkenning Wie het programma met goed gevolg aflegt, behaalt de academische graad Master in het Fiscaal recht. De erkenning van de permanente vorming voor advocaten werd aangevraagd. In het verleden werd deze erkenning altijd bekomen (voltijdse opleiding = 32 punten). Het met succes volgen van de opleiding biedt ook de mogelijkheid vrijstellingen te bekomen voor het toelatings examen van kandidaat- belastingconsulenten, georganiseerd door het Instituut van de Accountants en Belasting consulenten. Plaats De colleges lopen van het begin van het academiejaar tot half juni. Ze vinden plaats op de Stadscampus van de Universiteit Antwerpen. 18 Globalistation and Development (60 sp.) Programme in English - IOB Programme Content The Master s in Globalisation and Development approaches the phenomenon of globalisation from an eclectic perspective, considering both the opportunities it creates and threats it poses to development and poverty alleviation in low and middle-income countries, both at the national and the local level. Objectives The objective of the Master s is to provide students with a solid understanding of the globalisation phenomenon in its multiple dimensions (worldwide markets for goods and services, capital and labour/ migration, the planetary challenge of the environment and sustainable development). It also offers them insights and tools to analyse and affect how globalisation impacts on local development and poverty alleviation in low and middle- income countries, taking due account of the complexity of local-global interactions in the multifaceted arenas of globalisation. Successful students shall be able to recognise the opportunities presented by globalisation, and to assess and remedy the risks and threats entailed. Moreover, they shall be able to identify and evaluate policy and programme interventions to exploit opportunities for more effective local and national development in the evolving global context, as well as identify and evaluate development interventions aimed at remedying the adverse effects of globalisation on development in general and on the poorer and weaker groups in society in particular, thereby strengthening the agency of the latter. General Admission Requirements Applicants from the South must hold a university degree (Bachelor or Master) of at least 4 years of study in social sciences (Economics, Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, or related disciplines). Applicants from the South who hold a Bachelor s degree of only 3 years of study must demonstrate very strong and relevant professional experience and/or have successfully completed additional training. Applicants from the North must hold a Master s degree in Social Sciences. Only applicants with excellent academic records will be accepted. 19 Study Programme Courses For more details about the courses: see Track 1: Global Opportunities for Local Development Module I (12 weeks 18 credits) Theories of Development: provides an overview of recent evolutions in the literature on the politics and economics of development, and on poverty and inequality. Research Methods I and II: update of contemporary quantitative and qualitative research methods, possibilities for combining these methods and applying them within ongoing development processes. Module II: Globalisation and Development (9 weeks 12 credits) Different dimensions of globalisation, such as trade, finance, labour/migration and environment, are covered in a multidisciplinary fashion. Case studies are used to demonstrate how developing countries can obtain significant benefits from globalisation in general, while reducing or remedying its risks and constraints through more effective development policies and programmes. The topic is discussed at all levels of analysis, from the global to the local level and drawing on insights from, among other methods, the global chain approach. Module III: Local Institutions and Poverty Reduction (9 weeks 12 credits) The module analyses how the interactions of actor strategies and institutional structures generate inequality and poverty as well as well-being. It applies this analysis to specific policy domains: valuechain development, microfinance, land policies, gender, public services, role of local government, management of natural resources, migration and the impact of trade (the latter topic emphasises measurement and quantitative assessment, while the others involve qualitative and quantitative apporaches). Module IV: Dissertation (15 weeks 18 credits) To be developed on the basis of one of the assignments written at the end of either module II or III. 20 Governance and Development (60 sp.) Programme in English - IOB Programme Content The future of sustainable development is critically related to the promotion of better governance at the local, national, regional and international level. At once a cause and a consequence of governance failures, violent conflict is incompatible with sustainable development. Central in this nexus between development, governance and conflict are processes of state formation, state failure and state reconstruction. The study programme analyses governance problems and possible responses with due account of specific historical pathways of countries and the interaction between the national state level, local society level dynamics and the impact of global developments. The Master s programme in Governance and Development offers two tracks with specific objectives, courses and target audiences. The first track explores governance and development issues against the background of violent conflict and the challenge of post-conflict state reconstruction. The second track addresses governance and development challenges from the particular perspective of local institutions and poverty reduction. Objectives The objective of the Master s is to provide the students with multidisciplinary theoretical insights and practical tools that will improve their capacity to analyse governance challenges at different levels and how they relate to processes of violent conflict and development. Graduates will understand and be able to analyse, from the local to the global level, the governance problems confronting developing countries today. Theoretical insights, policy strategies and best practices as well as failures are explored in order that graduates could apply this knowledge in their future professional environments. General Admission Requirements Applicants from the South must hold a university degree (Bachelor or Master) of at least 4 years of study in social sciences (Economics, Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, or related disciplines). Applicants from the South who hold a Bachelor s degree of only 3 years of study must demonstrate very strong and relevant professional experience and/or have successfully completed additional training. Applicants from the North must hold a Master s degree in Social Sciences. Only applicants with excellent academic records will be accepted. Further, it analyses how the division of wealth and power among (ethnic and other) identity groups and their elites affect poverty, inequality and growth. It also considers the role, the potential and the constraints of global and decentralised governance structures as well as civil society within the context of the development process. 20
