5 Algemeen De minivna en minivnapro instrumenten van mrs zijn populaire en zeer bruikbare testinstrumenten. Het minivna instrument is een kleine blauwe doos met twee BNC-connectoren en één USBconnector. De nieuwere minivnapro is ook een kleine blauwe doos, nu met twee SMA-connectoren en een sterk verbeterde precisie. De gehele bediening van het instrument wordt uitgevoerd door een programma op een PC. Veel mensen hebben een bijdrage geleverd aan de ontwikkeling van deze software, echter de focus heeft hoofdzakelijk bij het Microsoft Windows operating-systeem gelegen. Er was een Linux based programma maar deze wordt niet langer ondersteund, de voor- en nadelen van de verschillende Linux distributies maakte het voor dit programma niet efficiënt. Ik ben in 2007 begonnen om een controleapplicatie, gebaseerd op de Java-programmeertaal te ontwerpen. Initieel werden ideeën overgenomen van de Visual-Basic-Applicatie die was aangeleverd door mrs. Java is een cross-platform taal welke toestaat identieke applicaties binair te draaien op elk ander met Java uitgerust operating-systeem. Op dit moment heb ik de applicatie getest op Windows98, WindowsXP, Windows7-32bit, WindowsVISTA-64bit, MacOSX 32-bit versies, MacOSX 64-bit versies en UBUNTU 10.x. Andy heeft een succesvolle test uitgevoerd met SUSE LINUX 11.1 en Opmerkingen: - In dit document zijn niet alle schermafbeeldingen afkomstig uit de laatste applicatieversie. - Voor duidelijkheid heb ik, waar nodig, de laatste schermafbeeldingen gebruikt. 6 Installatie Software voor Microsoft Windows XP en nieuwer Om de vna/j te gebruiken dient u de navolgende componenten te installeren: een Java runtime omgeving. de vna/j-applicatie. de drivers voor de seriële interface. speciale driver-bestanden voor uw specifieke netwerkanalyser. check JAVA version No installed? 7 Controleer de vereisten De vna/j-applicatie is geschreven in de JAVA-programmeertaal. Elke in JAVA geschreven applicatie heeft een runtime omgeving (JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT of simpel JRE) nodig om uitgevoerd te worden op een computer. Deze JRE moet geïnstalleerd zijn op de computer waarop u de vna/j wilt draaien. Voer de navolgende stappen uit om te controleren of er een compatibel JRE geïnstalleerd is: 1. Open het commandoscherm door het indrukken van de Windows-toets samen met de R-key of gebruik de UITVOEREN-invoer in het Windows startmenu. 2. Het UITVOEREN scherm opent. 3. Voer het commando cmd in 4. Selecteer de OK knop 5. Een commandoscherm wordt geopend: 6. Voer in: java -version (in woorden: java blank min version) en druk op de enter-toets. 8 U moet zoiets als java version "1.6.0_18" te zien krijgen. Als de getoonde versie gelijk of groter is dan "1.5." dan is de geïnstalleerde JAVA-omgeving geschikt voor het draaien van de vna/j. Ga verder met hoofdstuk "Installatie van de vna/j-applicatie". Indien dit niet het geval is dan dient u de laatste JRE volgens het volgende hoofdstuk "Installatie van de Java runtime environment (JRE)" te installeren. Als een error java cannot be found wordt getoond dan dient u de laatste JRE volgens het volgende hoofdstuk "Installatie van de Java runtime environment (JRE)" te installeren. 9 Installatie van de Java runtime environment (JRE) Open deze website in uw browser: Selecteer de download-knop : Controleer of de juiste versie van uw operating-systeem gedetecteerd wordt. Als het juiste operating-systeem getoond wordt selecteer dan de "download"-knop. In Firefox zal nu een scherm geopend en gevraagd worden om het bestand op te slaan.. Selecteer "BESTAND OPSLAAN". Wanneer de download gereed is dient u het bestand uit te voeren door dubbel op het bestand te klikken.. De JRE download moet nu starten. De JRE wordt automatisch geïnstalleerd. Om te controleren of de installatie correct verlopen is, kunt u de stappen die worden beschreven in hoofdstuk "Controleer de vereisten" opnieuw uitvoeren. Dietmar Krause, DL2SBA / 29

10 Installatie van de vna/j-applicatie vna/j - Installatiegids - V 2.8.x Basis applicatie-installatie Bepaal eerst waar u de vna/j-applicatie wil gaan installeren. Als voorbeeld heb ik de applicatie in een bureaubladmap geïnstalleerd. U kunt elke map met een lees- en schrijfmogelijkheid gebruiken. Voor dit document gebruik ik de map op mijn bureaublad: Creëer deze map door met de rechtermuisknop te klikken binnen het bureaubladgebied en uit het menu Nieuw de optie Map te selecteren. Voer voor de nieuwe map een zinvolle naam in. De complete vna/j-applicatie is opgesloten in een enkel bestand, een Java ARchive (eigenlijk een ZIPbestand met een.jar-extensie). U hebt het volgende bestand nodig voor het uitvoeren van de applicatie: Deze geeft de versie of elk later archief aan. vnaj jar U kunt altijd de laatste versie vanaf mijn website downloaden: Sla het gedownloade bestand op in de eerder aangemaakte map. Er zijn ook twee aanvullende MS Windows batch-bestanden. start_vnaj.cmd start_vnaj_echo.cmd Start de applicatie door het direct aanroepen van de JAVA runtime omgeving. Start de applicatie door het direct aanroepen van de JAVA runtime omgeving maar laat een commandoscherm open om de berichten van de applicatie te tonen. U dient deze alleen te downloaden als u problemen hebt met het starten van de applicatie (zie hoofdstuk "Applicatiestart" op pagina 16. Dietmar Krause, DL2SBA / 29

11 Hint: Controleer goed of u alle bestanden met de beschreven extensies gedownload hebt. Als u niet alle extensies in de Windws verkenner ziet dan dient u te controleren of de optie verborgenbestanden tonen is aangevinkt: U kunt dit dialoog vinden in het Verkenner menu Extra - Mapopties- Weergave - Verborgen bestanden en mappen - Verborgen mappen en bestanden weergeven aanvinken. 12 USB driver voor de minivna en de minivna PRO Om toegang te krijgen tot de minivna interface zijn er speciale drivers voor de USB-interface van de minivna nodig. U dient de zogenaamde VCP-driver voor Windows vanaf de fabrikant zijn homepage te downloaden: Download altijd de laatste driver-versie! U kunt of een specifiek ZIP-bestand voor het operating-systeem of een zogenaamde "setupexecutable" gebruiken. De laatste leidt u door een installatieprocedure of update van de drivers. Open na een succesvolle installatie het systeeminformatiedialoog en start het apparaatbeheer. (Win-toets+break-toets / Hardware / Apparaatbeheer / Poorten COM & LPT). In de sectie "COM & LPT" zijn nu de beschikbare COM-poorten zichtbaar. Plug nu de minivna (PRO) in op een vrije USB-poort van uw computer. U dient nu in het Windows taskbar-gebied een bericht te krijgen. Hierin wordt aangegeven dat er een nieuw apparaat gedetecteerd en succesvol geïnstalleerd is. Bekijk het apparaatbeheer opnieuw. U zult nu de toegevoegde seriepoort voor de minivna (PRO) zien: Schrijf de naam van de nieuwe toegevoegde COM-poort op (hier COM10). Deze zal later binnen de vna/j-applicatie gebruikt worden bij het selecteren van de juiste COM-poort voor de minivna. Opmerking: Als u de minivna (PRO) later inplugt op een andere USB-poort dan kan er mogelijk een andere COM-poort toegewezen worden. Dietmar Krause, DL2SBA / 29

13 Software voor de Mac OS X Controleer vereisten De vna/j-applicatie is geschreven met de JAVA-programmeertaal. Elke in JAVA geschreven applicatie heeft een runtime-environment (JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT of simpel JRE) nodig om te kunnen werken op een computer. Deze JRE is al op iedere Mac geïnstalleerd. Huidig heb ik een MBP (Apple MacBook Pro) in gebruik waarop deze JAVA-versie is geïnstalleerd: Updates zijn beschikbaar bij Apple via de reguliere onderhoudprocedures. Installatie van de vna/j-applicatie Basis applicatie-installatie Bepaal eerst waar u de vna/j-applicatie gaat installeren. Als voorbeeld heb ik deze in een Mac OS X bureaubladmap geïnstalleerd. U kunt hiervoor elke map met een lees- en schrijfmogelijkheid gebruiken. Voor dit document gebruik ik de map op mijn bureaublad: Creëer deze map door met de rechtermuisknop te klikken binnen het bureaubladgebied en uit het menu Nieuw de optie Map te selecteren. 14 USB driver voor de minivna en de minivna PRO Om toegang tot de minivna interface te krijgen zijn er speciale USB-interface drivers voor de minivna nodig. Ik heb de applicatie ook met de Apple Mac OS X getest. Ik heb de FTDI VCP driver versie , gedateerd 6 Augustus 2008 gedownload vanaf en geïnstalleerd. Elke nieuwere versie moet goed werken! Afhankelijk van het draaiende operating-systeem (32-bit or 64-bit), dient u het juiste bestand te downloaden van de FTDI website: De poortnamen van de Mac zijn een beetje afwijkend van Windows. 15 Hardware De minivna heeft eenvoudig ėén vrije USB-poort op uw computer nodig. Sluit de analyser met een hoge kwaliteit USB-kabel aan op een vrije USB-poort. Dietmar Krause, DL2SBA / 29

16 Applicatiestart Windows Er zijn drie manieren om de applicatie te starten: 1. Start door dubbel te klikken in het verkennerscherm. 2. Start met een snelkoppeling op het Windows bureaublad. 3. Start de applicatie met een bijgeleverd batch-bestand. Ik stel de eerste manier voor (1). Als u geen problemen tegenkomt dan kunt u de snelkoppeling op uw bureaublad gebruiken om de applicatie te starten (2). In het geval van problemen probeer dan alstublieft de applicatie te starten met het batch-bestand (3). Als dit ook faalt ga dan naar hoofdstuk "Rapporteren van een probleem" in de vna/j- gebruikersgids, voor verdere ondersteuning. Dietmar Krause, DL2SBA / 29

17 Windows verkenner Open de Windows verkenner met de directory waarin u de bestanden vanaf de website hebt gedownload. Start nu de applicatie door dubbel te klikken op het gedownloade JAR-bestand, hier vnaj jar De applicatie moet nu starten en het hoofdscherm vertonen. Als dit werkt kunt u een bureaubladlink zoals beschreven in dit hoofdstuk "Bureaublad snelkoppeling" op pagina 19 aanmaken. Als dit faalt probeer dan te starten met een van de batch-bestanden zoals beschreven in hoofdstuk "Batch-bestand" op pagina 18. Dietmar Krause, DL2SBA / 29

18 Batch-bestand Op de website worden twee MS Windows batch-bestanden aangeboden: start_vnaj.cmd start_vnaj_echo.cmd Deze start de applicatie door de JAVA runtime omgeving direct aan te roepen. Deze start de applicatie door het direct aanroepen van de JAVA runtime omgeving maar laat een commandoscherm open om berichten van de applicatie te tonen Probeer eerst het batch-bestand start_vnaj.cmd. Start dit bestand door dubbel te klikken op het bestand in de MS Windows verkenner. Als dit werkt dan kunt u een snelkoppeling op het bureaublad naar dit bestand (en niet naar het JAR-bestand) creëren zoals beschreven in hoofdstuk "Bureaublad snelkoppeling" op pagina 19. Als dit faalt ga dan naar hoofdstuk "Rapporteren van een probleem" in de vna/j- gebruikersgids voor verdere ondersteuning. Dietmar Krause, DL2SBA / 29

19 Bureaublad snelkoppeling Creëer een nieuwe snelkoppeling door met de rechtermuisknop te klikken op een vrije plaats binnen het bureaublad. - Selecteer NIEUW/Snelkoppeling in het popup menu. - Selecteer hier de eerder gedownloade jar-file: - Klik op VOLGENDE en geef de snelkoppeling een naam. - De applicatie kan nu gestart worden door met de linkermuisknop dubbel te klikken op de nieuwe snelkoppeling. 20 Mac OS X Commandoscherm - Open een commandoscherm (Shell, Terminal, ): - Navigeer naar de directory waarin u het gedownloade JAR- en JNILIN-bestand hebt opgeslagen. - Start de applicatie door het invoeren van: java -jar vnaj jar Dietmar Krause, DL2SBA / 29
