Introduction: Bird Strikes at Schiphol 2011: 7,6 birdstrikes per flights High season from july to september Birds of prey are the most common birds to cause bridstrikes but it depends every year on the level of mice in the field Awareness and media attention has raised pilot reporting significantly

Data analysis Statistical analysis; to measure is to know, right? 3 sources of information Recordings of all activities undertaken by birdcontrollers Reports on birdstrikes Bird counts All this data contains valuable information which can be used for Professional reporting on birdstrikes and the controls you use Undertaking better and more appropriate measures to mitigate the birdstrike risk. 2010: Through a thorough analysis of 5 year birdstrike and control data we found fact based answers to questions on subjects like: High season versus low season Take-off or landing fase Which areas are most hazardous In which seasons Due to which bird species

Dit is geen normering en dus niet te verwarren met een klantspecificatie limiet LeanSixSigma 7) Maandanalyse Focus op Fauna Incidenten: vrijwel alle incidenten zijn vliegtuig gerelateerd Werkinstructie is beschikbaar om data zelf te analyseren met behulp van draaitabellen Specifieke werkinstructie is beschikbaar voor statistische analyse op kruistabellen (Chisquare > Minitab noodzakelijk) LeanSixSigma LeanSixSigma

Geese: research around Schiphol Study on origins and migration patterns by Bureau Waardenburg ( ) in conjunction with the province of Noord Holland 300 geese ringed and 25 geese GPS-tagged in May-June 2010 & 2011 Goal is to recognise geese patterns and routes around and over the airport Distinctive hotspots have been recognised and have the focus of counter measures

Geese: reducing the attractiveness of grainfields Centre for Agriculture and Environment (CLM) has performed a study on adjustment of agriculture around the airport in conjunction the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment ( ) Geese & Grain Pilot summer 2011 Accelerated ploughing on 150 HA between 2 runways Less inviting for foraging geese Continuation within a larger area in future Very costly
