17 Natura 2000 gebied 161 Noorbeemden & Hoogbos (Zie leeswijzer) Kenschets Natura 2000 Landschap: Heuvelland Status: Habitatrichtlijn Site code: NL Beschermd natuurmonument: - Beheerder: Natuurmonumenten, particulieren Provincie: Limburg Gemeente: Margraten Oppervlakte: 43 ha Gebiedsbeschrijving De Noor is de naam van een klein riviertje in het zuidwesten van het Mergelland, dat in zuidelijke richting naar België stroomt en even voorbij de grens in de Voer uitmondt. In de Noorbeemden ontspringen meer dan twintig bronnen. In het intieme beekdal komen een aantal natte en droge bosgemeenschappen voor, waaronder diverse soorten elzen- en essenbossen (bronnetjesbos) in de lagere delen van het dal en eiken-haagbeukenbossen hoger op de helling. Tussen de bossen liggen kleinschalige landbouwgronden met plaatselijk soortenrijke natte hooilanden. De noordelijke helling is rijk aan heggen, holle wegen, hoogstamboomgaarden en struikgraften, met daartussen soortenrijke graslanden. 18 Instandhoudingsdoelen Algemene doelen Behoud van de bijdrage van het Natura 2000 gebied aan de biologische diversiteit en aan de gunstige staat van instandhouding van natuurlijke habitats en soorten binnen de Europese Unie. Behoud van de bijdrage van het Natura 2000 gebied aan de ecologische samenhang van het Natura 2000 netwerk zowel binnen Nederland als binnen de Europese Unie. Habitattypen H7220 Kalktufbronnen met tufsteenformatie (Cratoneurion) Doel Behoud oppervlakte en verbetering kwaliteit. Toelichting Het habitattype komt spaarzaam voor met een matige kwaliteit. Omdat de landelijke staat van instandhouding matig ongunstig is wordt verbetering van de kwaliteit nagestreefd. H91E0 Doel Toelichting Soorten H1083 Doel Toelichting *Bossen op alluviale grond met Alnus glutinosa en Fraxinus excelsior (Alno-Padion, Alnion incanae, Salicion albae) Behoud oppervlakte en verbetering kwaliteit vochtige alluviale bossen, beekbegeleidende bossen (subtype C). De (grensoverschrijdende) bronnetjesbossen in het dal van de Noor behoren tot de vochtige alluviale bossen, beekbegeleidende bossen (subtype C) met soorten als reuzenpaardenstaart en bittere veldkers. Het grootste deel in het Nederlandse deel is matig ontwikkeld door verdroging en eutrofiëring.omdat de landelijke staat van instandhouding matig ongunstig is wordt verbetering van de kwaliteit nagestreefd. Vliegend hert Behoud omvang en kwaliteit van het leefgebied voor behoud populatie. De soort vliegend hert komt voor in het Hoogbos en omgeving en in het dal van de Noor. Onduidelijk is wat de precieze bijdrage van het gebied is aan de populatie van het vliegend hert in Zuid-Limburg, maar vermoedelijk is deze betrekkelijk gering. De kever is hier vooral gebonden aan houtwallen. Landelijk verkeert de soort in een matig ongunstige staat van instandhouding, waarbij Zuid-Limburg een van de kerngebieden vormt in ons land. 19 Principles for the formal designations Clear boundaries, coinciding with boundaries which are recognizable in the field Therefore: small changes in boundaries of Natura 2000 sites, respecting Commission guidance on the matter Simple format/longtime tenable National protected nature monuments will be included in Natura 2000 sites 18
