5 Dag 5: 03 December TAUPO - TONGARIRO Vandaag staat er een rustige en korte rit op het programma. U rijdt van Rotorua naar Taupo en ontdekt er de Horizontal Huka falls. U kan wat uitrusten langs het Lake Terrace voor een lekkere lunch vooraleer verder te rijden naar het Nationaal park. Mount Tongariro Overnachting in Tongariro, The Park Travellers lodge, premium room, cooked breakfast inbegrepen. The Park Travellers Lodge is located in the alpine setting of National Park Village at the foot of Mt Ruapehu in the Tongariro National Park. Three of NZ's most famous mountains Ngauruhoe, Tongariro (famous for it's one day hike - the Tongariro Crossing) and Ruapehu (New Zealand's largest skifield and an active volcano), beckon you from the front door with a staggering imposing vista. The Park Travellers Lodge is conveniently located in the National Park Village with lots of parking. An enclosed courtyard area includes a BBQ and spa pool and possibly the best view in New Zealand. Dag 6: 04 December - TONGARIRO Volledige wandeldag met gids in Tongariro Nationaal Park. Inbegrepen: gids, lunch, transfer heen en terug van National Park Village en Whakapapa village. This 19km trek is New Zealand s best day one day walk. The track leads up to the saddle between Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro and then diverts over Mt Tongariro. Mt Tongariro is not a single volcano, but a complex of craters that have been active at different periods. The landscape on Tongariro is peppered with the different coloured and shaped craters, scoured volcanic rocks, active geothermal areas, mountain 5

6 springs and brightly coloured emerald lakes. In summer this track can be crowded and where possible, we take our clients away from the crowds while making sure that the popular sights are still experienced. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing starts at the Mangatepopo Valley (1100 metres) and the first two hours of the trek is an upward gentle gradient to Soda Springs. The track leads up to the Mt Tongariro and Mt Ngauruhoe saddle and it is steep. This section is taken slowly to ensure we all enjoy the spectacle and scenery. We have now arrived at the South Crater (1650 metres). Here we take a break and photos. We then traverse to the start of the last climb for the day, up the side of Tongariro to the famous Red Crater summit (1882 metres). This takes approximately one hour. After taking in the view of the active Red Crater with the Otarere and Rangipo deserts in the background, we descend to the Emerald Lakes where we enjoy lunch, refreshments and a well-earned break. The Tongariro Crossing track follows around the edge of Central Crater then climbs up to Blue Lake (a cold acidic lake). A short easy climb to the edge of North Crater, this was once filled with molten lava and then cooled and solidfied to give an level surface more than 1000 metres wide. You have a sensational change in your outlook, in good weather there are spectacular views out over Mt Pihanga and Lake Rotoaira to Lake Taupo. You then zigzag your way down to the Ketetehai Hut. The track crosses the stream that flows down from Keteahi Springs, the rocks are stained by minerals in the water. You will follow the route down through the open tussock land to the clearing with some seats. At this point the track drops steeply to the Mangatetipua Stream. A short side track leads down to a waterfall a few minutes before reaching the car park. Overnachting in Tongariro, The Park Travellers lodge, premium room, cooked breakfast inbegrepen. Dag 7 : 05 december Napier Ochtendstond heeft goud in de mond en dus vertrekt u vandaag zeer vroeg naar Napier voor een sportieve fietsrit tussen de wijngaarden. (zeker voor 7u vertrekken) De tour begint om 10u. Inbegrepen : fietsen, helmen, picnic lunch Hire bikes and discover some of Hawke s Bay s finest wineries, taste wines while also taking in the superb scenery of the Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa Triangle wine growing regions. The terrain is flat and very easy cycling. Scenery includes vineyards, olive groves, horse studs, orchards and farmland. You are off the road on the new Hawke s Bay cycle trails. The routes are all clearly marked and with a number of wineries nearby you won t get lost. Route 1. This self-guided winery tour covers 20Km. Starting from Ash Ridge Wines you can visit wineries such as Sileni Estates, Alpha Domus, Abbey Cellars, Triangle Cellars, Ngatarawa Estates, Salvare, Trinity Hill and Te Awa. Route 2. This shorter self-guided winery tour covers 12Km. Starting from Ash Ridge Wines you can visit wineries such as Trinity Hill, Te Awa, Salvare, Ngatarawa Estates and Triangle Cellars. 7 Mon Logis was built as a terrace house in the 1860s, and extended into a boutique hotel in In 1991 it became Mon Logis ("My Lodge" in French), recreating the French tradition of boutique hotel in Hawkes Bay. Two of the upstairs individually furnished rooms have twin beds and all have their own private facilities. Host Gerard Averous has decorated each guest room differently but in a style in keeping with the original charm of the building. Iron bedsteads, feather duvets, lace covers and fine cotton linen all create a special elegance. One room is totally furnished with pieces bought from France. Dag 09: 07 December - WELLINGTON - NELSON Vandaag neemt u de Interislander ferry van Wellington naar Picton voor de verkenning van het zuidelijke eiland en de meest zonnige regio van Nelson. The Interislander linking New Zealand's North and South Islands. The 92 kilometre journey between Picton and Wellington takes only three hours and has been described as "one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world". 7

Overnachting in Abel Tasman Marahau Lodge (geen ontbijt voorzien) Dag 10 : 08 December ABEL TASMAN NATIONAAL PARK NELSON Vanaf vandaag achter er jullie 2 mooie dagen in Abel Tasman Nationaal Park met gids. Wandelen en kayaking inbegrepen. Day 1: Kaiteriteri to Awaroa via Totaranui All aboard our Vista Cruise vessel! As we cruise from Kaiteriteri at the southern tip of the Park, north to Totaranui we echo the contours of the spectacular Abel Tasman coastline. Relax on the upper or lower viewing decks and enjoy a hot drink from the cafe. From Totaranui, walk through mature beech and rata forests, and along secluded golden beaches to the breathtaking expanse of the Awaroa inlet. Here, a warm kiwi welcome awaits you at Meadowbank Homestead - Awaroa, a faithful re-creation of the Wilson family's original home on the "finest site in the bay". **Pick up Nelson ( am) or Motueka (11.40 am) or if you are self driving please meet at our office by am. 9 Dag 11: 09 December - Abel Tasman Nationaal Park Day 2: Awaroa to Torrent Bay and return to Kaiteriteri Wake and enjoy your choice of home-cooked breakfast overlooking Meadowbank Homestead gardens but the sea. Walk the coastal track shaded by dense native forest to a sheltered beach and join a guided Sea Kayak trip to explore Tonga Island Marine Reserve. Your guide settles you into our stable double kayaks with full training and safety brief so don t worry! You won t leave the beach until your guide is satisfied you can enjoy a safe paddling experience. Around 9.00 am depart Meadowbank Homestead for your walk to the golden expanse of Onetahuti beach. From Onetahuti in the heart of Tonga Island Marine Reserve, paddle to view the antics of its resident Fur Seal colony (weather permitting). Paddle past Tonga Quarry and the Tonga Arches, where your guide will entertain you with amusing stories on the history and natural features of this fascinating area. We ll stop for lunch at sheltered Bark Bay, where you can take time out to explore, swim or relax on the golden sand. After lunch, we ll hop back into our kayaks and continue our wonderful beach hopping journey along the coast. Along the way there are plenty more points of interest to punctuate the picture-postcard views, including the Falls River and Frenchman s Bay. At Torrent Bay, there s time for a rest before you board our Vista Cruise vessel once again at 4.45 pm to return to Kaiteriteri. Dag 13: 11 December - Fox Glacier Rit van Punakaiki naar Fox Glacier. Dag 14 : 12 december - FOX GLACIER Vandaag staat een spectaculaire dag op het het programma. U laat de wagen staan voor een ongelooflijke mooie vlucht met helicopter boven de gletsjer. Daar heeft u 2 uren de tijd de omgeving te voet te verkennen. The fly-in, fly-out Helihike combines the excitement of walking on the Fox Glacier with the thrill of helicopter flights. You visit the ice caves and other wonderful formations below the upper ice fall, allowing you to explore a part of the glacier that is otherwise very difficult to get to. Equipped with hobnail boots, you board the helicopter for your first flight over the awe-inspiring pillars of the lower icefall. Here, the steep ice is in constant motion. You then circle the marvellous upper icefall and the Victoria Falls before landing. Your remote landing site on the ice is an exceptionally beautiful part of the glacier. At this stage, you are outfitted with instep crampons and set out to explore the beautiful formations and ice caves which are seen only here. This trip offers exceptional photographic opportunities. Each departure is a true voyage of exploration; there are so many changing features that the guides always find something new. U passeert langs de Bungy Bridge als u klaar bent voor de sprong, dan is dit het moment. 12 Dag 17: 15 December Milford Sound In de namiddag mag u inschepen voor de cruise van Milford Sound naar de Tasman Sea. Overnachting in Dunedin Larnach Castle, Camp Estate B&B, ontbijt en self guided tour inbegrepen. Dag 19: 17 December MOUNT COOK Een nieuwe spannende dag met een bezoek aan Mount Cook. Hier kan u deelnemen aan een fantastsische tour met zodiac boot in de omgeving van Mount Cook. (optionele activiteit) This a 3-hour tour taking you on an up-close, amazing encounter with icebergs, on a glacial terminal lake. Departing from The Hermitage Hotel, the bus will take you on a pleasant trip to the Tasman Valley, followed by an easy 1/2hr stroll through the National Park. Then board your MAC boat, and enjoy the ever-changing ice face of the icebergs on the Tasman Glacier terminal lake. Explore the fascinating glacial landscape and the everchanging ice face of the glacier. The lake is dotted with icebergs and the boat passes by so close you could touch them. Enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and some of the best photographic opportunities available in the National Park.
