1 SAM 1 J e r o e n W i e n e n Mijn naam is Jeroen Wienen, 21 jaar en derdejaars Bestuurskundestudent. Ik denk dat op onze universiteit al een heleboel dingen goed gaan. In de afgelopen jaren heeft Fractie SAM geholpen om dit voor elkaar te krijgen en ook zo te houden. Ik wil deze lijn doortrekken, door kritisch te blijven kijken naar de huidige ontwikkelingen en bij te sturen waar nodig. Ik zie echter ook nog veel verbeterpunten. Soms zijn dat kleine frustraties, soms zijn dat grotere problemen. Samen met jullie, de studenten van Tilburg University, wil ik zorgen dat jullie problemen gehoord worden en er oplossingen komen. Ik wil zorgen dat Tilburg University een omgeving is waar jij je als student goed voelt en waar je jezelf verder kunt ontwikkelen. Het is daarom belangrijk om dit op de campus mogelijk te maken, met voldoende plek om te studeren en een prettige leeromgeving. Maar niet alleen de campus is belangrijk, ook de inhoud van je studie en de online leeromgeving dienen motiverend te zijn. Al deze dingen helpen om jouw tijd op Tilburg University een mooie tijd te maken, waar je kunt groeien als student en als persoon. Door op mij te stemmen stem je dus voor een betere universiteit, met een motiverende leeromgeving die jou helpt het beste uit jezelf te halen. SAM 1 J e r o e n W i e n e n My name is Jeroen Wienen, 21 years old and I m currently in the third year of my bachelor s in Public Administration. The last couple of years SAM has helped to make this university a better place for students. I would like to follow this example by having a critical eye towards current developments and making adjustments when necessary. However, I also see points for improvement. These can be minor irritations, but also bigger problems. Together with you, the students of Tilburg University, I want to make sure that your problems are heard and that a solution is found. I want to make sure that Tilburg University is an environment in which you, as a stud ent, can feel good and has the ability to evolve. Therefore, it is important to have a campus that facilitates this, by making sure that there is enough room to study and by having a pleasant learning environment. But not only the university campus is impo rtant. We have to make sure that the online learning environment and the content of the courses are motivating as well. All these things will help to make your time at Tilburg University a time where you can evolve as a student, and as a person. A vote for me is a vote for a better university, with a motivating environment that helps you to make the most of your time at Tilburg University.

2 SAM 2 V e r a F r u s c h Mijn naam is Vera Frusch, ik ben 21 jaar oud en derdejaars student Communicatie- en informatiewetenschappen met als richting Bedrijfscommunicatie en digitale media. Naast mijn studie ben ik graag actief in het studentenleven en vind dit zeer belangrijk. Door actief te zijn ontwikkel je jezelf op een heel ander vlak dan in de collegezaal. Momenteel loop ik ook stage waarbij ik veel praktijkervaring opdoe. In mijn eerste jaar ben ik ook lid geworden bij TSR Vidar, waar ik in verschillende commissies zitting heb genomen. Verder heb ik me aangesloten bij een dispuut en heb ik hier vorig jaar de functie van secretaris in het bestuur vervuld. Bij Vidar, mijn dispuut en mijn stage heb ik het erg naar mijn zin, desalniettemin zou ik me graag nog breder willen ontwikkelen. SAM spreekt mij hierin erg aan, omdat ze professioneel zijn, weten wat ze willen en ook echt voor studenten staan. Meebeslissen en praten op het hoogste niveau lijkt mij een enorme uitdaging die ik graag aanga. Graag zou ik me willen inzetten voor studentendecanen die studenten adequaat kunnen bijstaan over vragen die zij hebben omtrent hun studiemogelijkheden, de trajecten, de toelatingseisen en het vakkenpakket. Momenteel is het niet eenvoudig om erachter te komen wat de verschillende mogelijkheden zijn tijdens je studie en de studentendecaan kan je hier vaak niet bij verder helpen. Dit zou ik willen veranderen door de eisen voor studentendecanen aan te scherpen. SAM 2 V e r a F r u s c h My name is Vera Frusch, I am 21 years old and currently, I am studying Communication and Information sciences, witinh the track Business communication and Digital Media. Besides studying, I also like to be an active student. In my opinion this is very important, because you will learn from it and gain a lot of experience. That is why I have joined the student rowing association TSR Vidar in my first year, where I was involved in several committees. I have also joined a sorority and last year I was on the board as secretary. Furthermore I am currently involved in an internship to expand my boundaries. I enjoy being a member of Vidar, my sorority, and being involved in an internship but I also like to develop broadener. SAM appeals to me, because their attitude is professional, the y know what they want and they really stand up for students. Making decisions at the highest level seems a huge challenge which I am willing to accept. Explicitness is something I think is very important, with SAM I hope to sharpen the guidelines for stude nt counsellors, who are at the moment not capable of providing information regarding different possibilities while you are studying. A vote for me is a vote for a better university, with a motivating environment that helps you to make the most of your time at Tilburg University.

3 SAM 3 R a c h e l V e r s t r a e t e n Beste medestudenten! Mijn naam is Rachel Verstraeten, 21 jaar oud en in mijn derde jaar van de studie Psychologie. Naast studeren ben ik ook actief als student-assistente binnen het statistiek departement van de faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen. Tevens neem ik plaats in de congrescommissie van studievereniging Complex en zit ik in de activiteitencommissie van de squashvereniging T.S.S.V. Lancelot. Het is belangrijk om gedurende je studie nevenactiviteiten te verrichten om zo jezelf en je vaardigheden zo goed mogelijk te kunnen ontwikkelen. Fractie SAM zet zich in voor deze persoonlijke ontwikkeling, waardoor ik heb beslo ten om me dit jaar verkiesbaar te stellen voor fractie SAM. Aankomend studiejaar moet een jaar worden waarin ik me volledig wil inzetten voor de belangen van studenten aan Tilburg University. Mijn focus ligt hierbij op meer openheid en toegankelijkheid voor studenten in het besluitvormingsproces. Studenten moeten immers weten wat er zich afspeelt binnen de universiteit. Bovendien wil ik me inzetten voor meer beschikbare informatie voor studenten. Op deze manier krijgt iedereen de kans het optimale uit zichzelf en zijn/haar studie(tijd) te halen en daarmee het best mogelijke toekomstperspectief voor zichzelf te bewerkstelligen. Wil je dat jouw belangen als student aan de TiU zo goed mogelijk worden behartigd? Stem dan fractie SAM, want SAM houdt zich aan haar beloften en zet woorden om in daden. SAM 3 R a c h e l V e r s t r a e t e n Dear fellow students! My name is Rachel Verstraeten, I am 21 years old and in my third year of the Bachelor Program in Psychology. Next to studying I am also active as a student assistant within the department of statistics at the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. I take part in the conference committee of study association Complex and I am in the activities committee at squash association T.S.S.V. Lancelot. It is important to take part in extracurricular activities during your studies, because these give you the opportunity to develop yourself and your skills as much as possible. SAM aims at personal development, which made me decide to run for a spot with SAM. Upcoming year will be a year during which I want to fully engage in the interests of students at Tilburg University. My focus will lie on more openness on the decision making process. Students need to know what is going on within our university. Next to that, I want to commence myself for more information for students. In this way, everyone will get the change to get the most out of their student life, which should lead to the best future perspective possible. Do you want your interests to be looked after as good as possible? Then vote SAM, because SAM keeps its promises and turns ideas into action!

4 SAM 4 J e r o e n S c h i p p e r e n Beste medestudenten, Mijn naam is Jeroen Schipperen, 21 jaar en vierdejaars student. Ik woon momenteel in Tilburg, maar kom oorspronkelijk uit Prinsenbeek. Ik ben momenteel bezig om mijn bachelor Rechtsgeleerdheid af te ronden. Naast mijn studie ben ik actief bij T.S.V. Plato waar ik lid ben van Heerendispuut Equilibre. Verder neem ik bij Plato zitting in twee commissies. Hiernaast ben ik nog actief bij Magister JFT waar ik twee commissiefuncties bekleed. Komend jaar wil ik mijzelf gaan inzetten voor alle studenten aan de TiU, fractie SAM was voor mij dan ook een juiste keuze. SAM hecht veel waarde aan het ontwikkelen naast je studie en dat is iets waar ik mijzelf mee kan identificeren. Ik zou allereerst graag de praktische problemen aanpakken waar je als student tegen aanloopt wanneer je over de campus loopt. Denk hierbij aan het tekort aan studieplekken in tentamenperiode of het feit dat de mensa gesloten is in het weekend. Fractie SAM heeft de afgelopen jaren mede dankzij een proactieve houding veel dingen bereikt en het is dan ook mijn ambitie en doel om deze lijn door te trekken en ervoor te zorgen dat de studenten zich gehoord voelen. Dus twijfel niet: stem SAM! SAM 4 J e r o e n S c h i p p e r e n Dear fellow students, My name is Jeroen Schipperen, 21 years old and a fourth year student. I currently live in Tilburg, but I am from Prinsenbeek originally. I am currently in the phase of finishing my bachelor in Law. Next to my studies, I am active within T.S.V. Plato, being a member of Heerendispuut Equilibre. Furthermore, I take place in two committees within Plato. Apart from being active within Plato, I am an active member of Magister JFT, where I take part in two committees. Upcoming year, I want to put all my efforts into representing all students of Tilburg University. Therefore, SAM was the right choice for me. SAM feels that developing yourself next to your studies is important, and that is something I can identify myself with quite easily. First of all, I would like to try to solve practical issues that bug you as a student while being on campus. One of these is the shortage in study places and the fact that the Mensa is closed during the weekend. During the past couple of years, SAM has achieved a lot, mainly due to a proactive attitu de. Therefore, it is my goal and ambition to continue this and to make sure that all students feel heard. So don t hesitate: vote SAM!

5 SAM 5 G ö k h a n S a n c a k Mijn naam is Gökhan Sancak, 21 jaar oud en een derdejaars Bestuurskunde student. Ik heb net een geweldige ervaring in het buitenland afgerond waarin ik bezig was met mijn exchange aan Bilkent University en een stage volgde bij het Ministerie van Onderwijs in Turkije. Daarnaast ben ik lid van de studievereniging Magister JFT en verricht ik vrijwilligerswerk in mijn woonplaats Roermond waarbij ik bijles Engels geef aan basis - en middelbare school leerlingen. In de voorgaande jaren heb ik mij ook ingezet voor jongeren die het moeilijk hadden tijdens hun opleiding en dreigden schoolverlaters te worden. Het komend collegejaar wil ik mij inzetten voor alle studenten van Tilburg University en hoop hierbij hun belangen zo goed mogelijk te vertegenwoordigen. Studenten dienen aan het begin en gedurende hun opleiding doeltreffend geïnformeerd en gestimuleerd te worden om kansen aan te grijpen die studenten helpen hun doelen te realiseren. De drempelwaarde tot het verrichten van nevenactiviteiten dient laag te liggen zodat studenten, thuis - of uitwonend, zich binnen of buiten de studie om naar eigen wens kunnen verrijken. Een exchange naar een buitenlandse universiteit, het verrichten van vrijwilligerswerk of het uitoefenen van een functie binnen een vereniging zijn activiteiten die een student tijdens zijn opleiding dient uit te kunnen oefenen zonder dat dit een hinder vormt, zoals studievertraging. SAM 5 G ö k h a n S a n c a k My name is Gökhan Sancak, 21 years old and a third year Public Administration student. I just recently finished a tremendous experience abroad in a foreign country in which I went on exchange to Bilkent University and also performed an internship at the Ministry of Education in Turkey. Besides that, I am a member of the study association Magister JFT and I carry out voluntary work in the city I live, Roermond, in which I tutor English to primary and secondary education students. In the previous years I put my efforts on youngsters who had difficulties during their education and risked the chance of getting kicked out of their school. The upcoming academic year I intend to put my efforts for all of the students of Tilburg University and hope to fulfil their needs as good as possible. Students need to be informed and stimulated at the very beginning and during their education to grab opportunities that will contribute students in realizing their goals. The threshold of undertaking additional activities is ought to be low in order for students, living at home or on their own, to enrich themselves for their own means within or outside their academic program. An exchange to a foreign university, carrying out voluntary work or practicing a job in an association are activities which a student should be able to perform during his education without any hindrances as for example delay in your education.

6 SAM 6 E r i k v a n d e r W er f f Mijn naam is Erik van der Werff, 20 jaar oud en derdejaars Economie en Bedrijfseconomiestudent aan Tilburg University. Het afgelopen semester ben ik tevens op exchange geweest naar Madrid. De afgelopen drie jaar heb ik naast mijn studie al deel uitgemaakt van de medezeggenschapsmogelijkheden voor studenten. Zo ben ik al drie jaar, als vertegenwoordiger van mijn opleiding, lid van de opleidingscommissie Economics. Verder heb ik gedurende de eerste twee jaar van mijn studie input gegeven aan de klankbordgroep van EBE. Ik wil me graag volgend jaar inzetten voor Fractie SAM om te zorgen dat de studenten gehoord worden. Het is belangrijk dat, in een systeem waarbij de marketing en de externe communicatie haast belangrijker zijn dan de studenten die nummertjes zijn geworden, Fractie SAM de studenten vertegenwoordigd in de Universiteitsraad om studenten gehoord te laten worden. Het is van groot belang dat de communicatie en samenwerking tussen de studenten en de universiteit goed functioneert. Dit kan veel beter. Ik wil ervoor gaan zorgen, samen met de andere kandidaten van Fractie SAM, dat de communicatie en samenwerking verbeteren. Er moet niet blind gestaard worden op de regeltjes en de nummertjes. Het belangrijkste blijven de studenten en daar moet de focus dan ook liggen: meer flexibiliteit en betere communicatie! SAM 6 E r i k v a n d e r W er f f My name is Erik van der Werff. I am 20 years old and I am currently in the third year of the Bachelor s program of Economics and Business Economics. Besides that, I went on exchange to Madrid during the past semester. During the past three years I have already been involved in several co-determination organs of the University. Since three years I am member of the education committee Economics. Also, I participated in the soundboard group for my program the past two years. I would like to be part of Student Party SAM next year to make sure that the opinion of students is heard and is understood. It is important that in a system in which marketing and external communication almost seem to be more important than students who have become numbers, Student Party SAM strongly represents students in the University Council to let the voice of students be heard. It is of big importance that the communication and cooperation between students and the University performs well. Both can still be improved. I am going to strive, together with the other candidates of Student Party SAM, that the communication and cooperation improve. The University should not solely look at rules and numbers. The cornerstones of the University are the students and that is exactly where the focus should be directed at: more flexibility and better communication!

7 SAM 7 J i p S c h u i v e n s Hallo, ik ben Jip Schuivens, 20 jaar oud en tweedejaars Psychologiestudent. Naast studeren ben ik ook actief binnen Studievereniging Complex, waar ik dit jaar voorzitter van ben. Gedurende dit jaar heb ik Tilburg University beter leren kennen en ben ik actief betrokken geweest bij de ontwikkelingen binnen mijn opleiding en TSB. Ook heb ik tijdens mijn bestuursjaar mijn persoonlijke vaardigheden weten te ontwikkelen. Zo heb ik geleerd de mening van mijzelf en mijn medestudenten beter naar voren te brengen binnen Tilburg University. Ook heb ik ervoo r gezorgd dat er daadwerkelijks iets mee gedaan wordt! Ik heb geleerd dat de studenten in Tilburg soms denken dat niemand naar ons luistert, maar dat is zeker niet zo! Wij als studenten zijn een diverse groep met een belangrijke rol en duidelijke meningen en wensen. Helaas weet niet iedere student hoe deze wensen en meningen naar voor te brengen. Fractie SAM staat hierbij voor jou klaar. De openheid en toegankelijkheid van SAM is dé manier hoe wij op de hoogte blijven van de belangen van de Tilburgse student. Maar SAM luistert niet alleen, SAM doet ook iets met de wensen van de Tilburgse student. Van meer werkplekken tot de harde knip: SAM houdt zich er intensief mee bezig. Ook buiten alle overleggen en vergaderingen is SAM aanwezig binnen het Tilburgse studentenleven. Graag wil ik mij inzetten voor fractie SAM en de student om te zorgen dat naar onze belangen wordt geluisterd. Maar dit kan niet zonder jouw steun dus: stem op mij, stem op SAM! SAM 7 J i p S c h u i v e n s Hello, I am Jip Schuivens, 20 years old, and I m currently in my second year of my Psychology Bachelor. Besides studying I m also active in Study Association Complex, of which I m currently Chairman. During this year I ve had the opportunity to discover Tilburg University and I ve been actively involved with the developments within my study and TSB. During my year as a board member I ve developed a lot of personal skills. One of these skills is that I ve become better in making my opinion as well as the opinion of my fellow students heard. And more importantly I ve made sure that something gets done with our opinions! During this year I ve also learned that some students in Tilburg think that there is no one who will listen to us, but that is certainly not the case! Students are a divers and important group with clear opinions and wishes. The openness and transparency of SAM is the method it uses to make sure they keep up to date with the opinions and wishes of all students in Tilburg. But SAM doesn t just listen, it makes work of your wishes. From more study rooms to the Bachelor-before-Master rule: SAM is involved. But it s not all meetings and consultations: SAM is present in the student life of Tilburg. That way SAM makes sure it knows what the students want and they can do something using their co-partnership. I would love the opportunity to support SAM and the student to make sure our interests are being heard. But I can t do it without your support so: vote for me, vote for SAM!

8 SAM 8 R u b e n G r a a f l a n d Even voorstellen! Ik ben Ruben Graafland, 19 jaar en bezig met mijn tweede jaar van de bachelor International Business Administration. Door deze Engelstalige studie heb ik een goed beeld gekregen van de internationalisering van Tilburg University, en dat is één van de punten waar ik nog ruimte voor verbetering zie. Naast studeren ben ik erg actief bij studievereniging Asset International Business & Management, het departement van Asset speciaal voor studenten van IBA en IM. In mijn eerste jaar begonnen als redacteur van het magazine, heb ik het afgelopen jaar gewerkt om het leuke symposium de Quest in elkaar te zetten. Het is een erg leuke en leerzame ervaring, zeker in combinatie met de informele activiteiten die worden georganiseerd binnen Asset. Hoewel het studentenleven erg mooi is, heb ik ook meer dingen die ik graag doe. Een heel groot deel van mijn agenda wordt gevuld door hockey, zowel door het fluiten van wedstrijden voor de hockeybond, als door de bekleding van een functie binnen het opleidingstraject van scheidsrechters met ambitie bij mijn eigen hockeyclub. Bovendien heb ik een grote passie voor acteren en alles wat met theater maken van doen heeft. SAM is voor mij een kans. De kans om een stem te hebben op de universiteit. Namens mezelf, maar vooral namens de student. Klagen kan iedereen, maar een klacht omzetten in verbetering, in vooruitgang, dat doet SAM. Zoals Benjamin Franklin het ooit verwoordde: goed gedaan is beter dan goed gezegd. SAM 8 R u b e n G r a a f l a n d Let me introduce myself! I am Ruben Graafland, 19 years of age and currently in my second year of International Business Administration. This English-taught program has given me good insight in the internationalization of Tilburg University, and also inspired me to think of improvements for that process. Besides studying I am an active member at Asset International Business & Management, the Asset department with a prime focus on IBA and IM students. I started off as editor of the magazine of the association in my first year, and am currently occupied with the organization of an interactive symposium, the Quest. It is not only the experience of the committee work I find very attractive about my active membership, but also th e great informal activities have been a good reason to be active. Although I love the student life, there is more to my life than just studying and being active at my study association. First ly, a substantial part of my agenda involves field hockey. I am an umpire appointed by the Dutch hockey federation, and also the coordinator of an umpiring excellence program at my own hockey club, focused entirely on enthusiastic and ambitious umpires. Additionally, I have great passion for acting, and actually everything around theater. To me, SAM stands for opportunity. The opportunity to let my voice be heard on this university, on my own behalf, but more importantly on the behalf of the students for which I stand. Having complaints is easy, but turning it into a structural solution is an entirely other thing. SAM gives you that chance. As Benjamin Franklin once put it: well done is better than well said.

9 SAM 9 D w a y n e H e u v e l m a n s Beste studenten. Mijn naam is Dwayne Heuvelmans, 22 jaar, en vierdejaarsstudent aan Tilburg University. De eerste jaren heb ik Sociologie gestudeerd, inmiddels heb ik mijn plek gevonden bij de opleiding Bestuurskunde aan de rechtenfaculteit. In de afgelopen jaren ben ik voorzitter van studievereniging Versot geweest en heb ik namens Fractie Stimulus in de faculteitsraad van TSB gezeten. Op dit moment zit ik in het landelijk bestuur van DWARS, de jongerenorganisatie van GroenLinks. De afgelopen twee jaar ben ik lijstduwer geweest voor Fractie SAM. Ik heb de fractie altijd een warm hart toegedragen: een tomeloze inzet voor alle studenten aan Tilburg University en een fractie die jaar in, jaar uit resultaten weet te bereiken. Daarom stel ik mij dit jaar graag kandidaat voor Fractie SAM. Ik wil graag een bijdrage leveren aan het behartigen van de belangen van al onze studenten aan Tilburg University en een onderwijsklimaat realiseren waarin studenten ruimte wordt gegeven om datgene te doen waar hun hart naar uitgaat. SAM 9 D w a y n e H e u v e l m a n s Dear students. My name is Dwayne Heuvelmans, 22 years old and a fourth year student at Tilburg University. In my early years at this university, I followed the program Sociology, but nowadays I have found my spot within the Bachelor of Public Administration at the Tilburg Law School. During previous years, I was chairman of study association Versot and I took part in the faculty council of TSB, being part of Stimulus. Currently, I am in the national board of DWARS, the youth organization of GroenLinks. During the past two years, I have been supporter of the list for SAM. I have always been very fond of SAM: a massive effort for all students at Tilburg University and a party that keeps on delivering, year after year. Therefore, I decided to become a candidate this year. I would like to contribute to l ooking after the interests of all students and to create a study climate in which students get the space to do those things that make their hearts pound.
