Filmmakers gebruiken tegenwoordig indrukwekkende en slimme technieken, zoals motion capture en 3D. FILM FACTS Happy Feet Happy Feet is a computer-animated family film with music. Director George Miller directed and co-wrote it. He produced the film in Sydney and released it in North America. It s an animated film. It used what was then a new technique, called motion capture. This means that you film the movements of humans and later change these movements into animation. Happy Feet 1 came out in 2D. The reviews were great everybody loved it! The penguins moved exactly like real ones. Happy Feet won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Happy Feet 2 is a 3D film. It stars Elijah Wood, Robin Williams and Pink. They acted the parts of some of the penguins. It premiered in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D. 2D or 3D? British cinema goers have said 3D makes little difference to the experience of a film. Lots of blockbusters have used this technology, like Harry Potter and the Deadly Harrows: Part 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Pirates of the Caribbean. But in a recent survey, 41% of people said it was OK from time to time, but not too often. Just 19% agreed that 3D improves a film. Almost half said it made no difference at all! They didn t feel more engaged. More than a third of people said that they prefer to see a film in common 2D. Lots of people go to the cinema because of the reviews or trailers, not because of the new 3D look. 7 Als je tv kijkt, zie je weleens dat mond en geluid niet gelijklopen. Dan is er wat mis met de lip sync. What do you say? Lip sync (short for lip synchronisation) is a technical term for matching lip movements to song or speech. Lip sync in music is also called miming: the singer pretends to sing, but only moves his or her lips. Singers, even the greatest stars, often use this when they dance a lot on stage, or when they have a sore throat. The audience is not always happy with miming, of course. We all want to hear our idols sing live and not see them pretend to be singing. Lip sync in films is something different. It takes place in the final stages of film production. It is sometimes used in normal films, but mostly in animated films. In animated films the characters voices are spoken by real actors. These spoken words are fitted into the film. It is a tough job to match the lips of the animated characters with the voices of the actors. The editor has to figure out the correct timings of the speech to make things as realistic as possible. Nowadays with all the computers available, things are much easier than in the old days. Compare films like Walt Disney s Snow White and Toy Story: you can tell the difference. Lip sync is also used in video games. HOW TO SET UP YOUR GAMES CONSOLE Once you have charged the battery you can start setting up your games console. Be patient, only go to the next step when you have completed a step. 1 Turn on your games console and set the screen language. Use the stylus to tap the language you want, or use the arrow button. Caution: After you have done this, the language on your games console will still be in English. It s only when you have saved the settings in step 6, that the games console will use the language you have entered. 2 Enter a username. Create a funny username, or make up a fake Latin name or use symbols or numbers instead. 3 Choose a screen colour. This will be the primary colour on the menu pages. The setting will not affect game play. 4 Enter the time and the date from the Settings menu. Je gebruikt de present perfect in de volgende drie gevallen: Als iets in het verleden begonnen is en nog niet voorbij is. Vaak staat dan in de zin: for, since, ever, never of yet: She has lived here for five years. Ze woont hier al vijf jaar. Als het resultaat van iets nog steeds zichtbaar of merkbaar is: They haven t saved their scores. Ze hebben hun scores niet opgeslagen. Als iets heel kort geleden is gebeurd.
