11 During his work at Vestas NW Erwin Coolen was responsible for the first Vestas project in China (ORET/MILIEV) which included setting up a production line for windturbines in the Netherlands and supervision of the construction work in the field. His final project as a project manager was the NUON project in Almere which then were of the biggest wind turbines in the Netherlands. As Manager of the Project Department ( ) Erwin Coolen has set up the total project organisation including the introduction of ISO 9001 and the VCA certification. The project department has grown from 1 to 10 people and been split up in an onshore and offshore department. Also several V66 parks like: Klokbekertocht (6*1,65MW), Hondtocht (7*1,75MW), Futenweg (6*1,75MW) and Oudelandetocht (12*1,65MW). His work as site manager included inspection of the materials and tools on site. Managing of the 25 people that are working on the wind farms and keep the safety of the work in control. Also do the inspection of the work that was done by external companies. Communication with the office and all the paperwork is also part of the job. Find solutions for solving problems in case of testing of new turbines with short communication lines to the offices from Vestas Denmark and Germany. Now (2003) he is quality inspector and trainer. He is doing the final quality contol after start-up and hand-over to the customer. Also inspection in 5 year old turbines to check the state of maintenance and the main components. Make gearbox and generator inspections and change the bearings or the complete item when there are problems. He has close contact with the office in Holland and Denmark about the state of the turbines and the errors that must be solved. As a trainer he takes the new service engineers into the field and shows them the right way of doing maintenance and solving errors. He follows them in there work and has contact with them from time to time about there progress, new courses and prospects. He also collect the questions and problems from the field for the monthly service meetings. He will find the solutions or take the lead in the discusion. There was also a need for a reliable system witch could handle the information flow of all Non Conformity related issues. Now there is a system witch gives us a good overview and at the same time is a good administrative tool. The service new site s department has grown from 1 to 3 people and been split up in an onshore and offshore department. Also due to the growth there was a need for a good tool calibration and certification system. This system is now running and gives the service coordinators a good overview of all the tools there are in the Netherlands and in witch status they are. Now Bart is transferred to the offshore department and will take care of all the tools, personal for the service activities and planning.
