2 welkom Golfsociëteit De Lage Vuursche is gelegen aan de Dolderseweg (Boerderijlaan) in Den Dolder, vlakbij de voormalige therapieboerderij van de Willem Arntsz Hoeve. Deze boerderij, die is uitgeroepen tot rijks m onument, is nu in gebruik als onderhouds accommodatie en dienstwoning. Het golfcomplex is gesitueerd op een terrein van circa 56 hectare. De bekende golfbaanarchitecten Kyle Phillips en Robert Trent Jones jr. tekenden voor het ontwerp van de 18 holes World Class golf course. Mede door de vele uitdagende waterpartijen staat De Lage Vuursche bekend als een zeer goede clubgolfbaan. De Amerikaanse architecten zijn erin geslaagd om de karakteristieken van het terrein te accentueren. Bestaande boscoulissen en nieuwe bospercelen lopen vloeiend in elkaar over. Kyle Phillips heeft persoonlijk het kwaliteitsniveau van De Lage Vuursche gedefinieerd. Zijn definitie is gebaseerd op de kwaliteit van alle door hem gerealiseerde golf courses, waaronder de beroemde golfbaan Kingsbarns in Schotland. Om het hoge kwaliteitsniveau in de toekomst te kunnen handhaven brengt Phillips één tot twee maal per jaar een inspectiebezoek aan de baan, waarbij telkens de puntjes op de i worden gezet.

3 Ook aan het sociëteits g ebouw is veel aandacht besteed. Het pand werd ontworpen en in 2000 gerealiseerd door het bureau KroezeRuys Architecten. Naast de gebruikelijke kleedkamers, douches, bar- en restaurantruimte beschikt de Golfsociëteit over tal van aanvullende faciliteiten zoals vergaderruimten, een fitnessruimte, sauna, Turks bad, massagekamer, bridgeruimte, shop en receptie. Interieurarchitect Gusta Ruys heeft in 2009 het interieur onder handen genomen. In nauw overleg met de verschillende disciplines, onder wie de horecaexploitant, creëerde zij gedetailleerde ontwerpen voor de lounge, bar en een prachtig restaurant. 6 1 - Karpaten One of the best opening holes in The Netherlands. The best line off the tee favours the left side of the fairway to give the best angle to the green. Approaches from the right side are blocked out by a crop of trees, make sure to take enough club. The green is large with two tiers

7 hole 1 - par 4

8 2 - Great Bear Lake The telephone mast is a good line off the tee. Once on the fairway, the shot to the green can be tricky with a water hazard left and a bunker that encroaches into the green on the right. Like the first hole, the second is long and demanding, especially when into the wind

9 hole 2 - par 4

10 3 - Guadalajara Avoid the ponds left and right and that should leave a comfortable short iron to the green. Long hitters can try and reach it with their driver and maybe make an eagle

11 hole 3 - par

12 4 - Maui The 4th is the first par 3 of the day! The green is setup on a plateau with an imposing set of bunkers right of the green and mounds left that will help your ball bounce back onto the green if you miss it slightly left

13 hole 4 - par 3

14 5 - Paaseiland A tricky short par 4 with water the whole way down the right side and two large bunkers on the left ready to catch the hooked tee shot. The green is set at 45 degrees to the playing line; anything short will roll back in the water!

15 hole 5 - par 4

16 6 - Parana The shortest hole on the course but not the easiest! The 6th is played over a pond to a very undulating green which can lead to some interesting putts. Choose your club carefully; balls have been known to spin back into the bunker or even the water

17 hole 6 - par 3

18 7 - Brooks Range Keep your tee shot left to avoid the water that protects the length of the hole on the right, two fairway bun kers make the correct line and shape of shot very important. The approach is slightly up hill to an extremely long green which can mean the difference between 3 or 4 clubs. A demanding hole!

19 hole 7 - par 4

20 8 - Oeral A long par 5 that is only reachable in two by the longest of hitters. Out of Bounds left and fairway bunkers right make a straight tee shot imperative. The second shot plays back into the forest and the approach to the green is often deceptively difficult to judge your distance

21 A A A-239 A hole 8 - par

22 9 - Bering The 9th is one of only 4 holes without water and consid ered by many to be the most beautiful hole on the course. A narrow tee shot through the trees that avoids the fairway bunker leaves an uphill approach to the green over a deep bunker

23 hole 9 - par 4

24 10 - Tasmanië A shorter par 4 where a well placed tee shot will leave a short iron to the green. The green which is two tiered with the back section being lower than the front, makes it extremely important to end on the correct level. The front of the green is protected with a false front and a bunker on the right side

25 hole 10 - par 4

26 11 - Rode Zee The closer you stay to the fairway bunker on the right the easier the second shot becomes. Aim left for a safer line and the second shot becomes longer with a more difficult angle to the green. The green is protected by some well placed bunkers. Watch out for the carry over the pond, it can be deceptively far!

27 hole 11 - par 4

28 12 - Yellowstone A reachable par 5 for the long hitters. Avoid the bunkers left and right of the fairway with your tee shot. Be careful with your lay up because the fairway bunker is placed about where the ideal shot finishes. Putting can be once again fun with a large undulating green

29 A (A 129) 213 (A 151) hole 12 - par 5

30 13 - Al Kufrah Out of bounds on the right side is a good reason to keep left with the tee shot. Two trees guard the front of a long narrow undulating green. Don t go left with your approach; a deep gully is waiting to swallow up the ball

31 hole 13 - par 4

32 14 - Madagaskar A long par 3 over water with anything landing short right of the green being destined to get wet. In front of the green is a deep bunker waiting. The left side of the green is the safe shot but don t go too far, trees and long rough will make the recovery treacherous

34 15 - Buenos Aires One of the most challenging tee shots on the course, a long carry, a water hazard left and out of bounds right makes for a very difficult drive. Once the tee shot has been successfully negotiated the shot to the green is tricky with once again two tiers, but this time the back section is set at an angle to the line of play which makes it extremely difficult to hit it close to the hole. An all round great hole!

35 hole 15 - par 4

36 16 - Mount Ross The last par 5 of the day and once the drive has success fully hit the fairway the 16th is a good birdie chance. It is best to keep the second shot left, this avoids a tree that blocks out the green from the right side. This green has three levels three bunkers and a St Andrews like Valley of Sin in front just to keep things interesting

37 75 A (A 163) 262 (A 195) hole 16 - par 5

38 17 - Campbell Island A fairly easy looking hole, but beware to take enough club to carry the bunkers in front of the green. When the pin position is cut left watch out the water can be much more in play then you might think!

39 hole 17 - par

40 18 - Taiwan The ideal line from the tee is somewhere between the bunker and the pine trees. Club selection with the second shot is critical; anything slightly right will catch at best the bunker, possibly the water. The green is built with a Biarritz style swale through the middle that makes putting interesting! A great finishing hole!
