Global Pump Investment (GPI), in 1997 opgericht als investeringsmaatschappij, participeert in organisaties met een sterk eigen product en/of dienst die in een nichemarkt actief zijn of dat willen zijn. GPI heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een investeringsmaatschappij met een krachtig internationaal karakter met belangstelling voor maritieme- en industrieel georiënteerde marktsegmenten. 4 Jaarverslag Global Pump Investment 2009 Global Pump Investment Annual Report 2009 Ik ben trots op het feit dat ik u het eerste jaarverslag nieuwe stijl van Global Pump Investment B.V. (GPI) mag overhandigen. GPI is sinds 1997 een privé investeringsmaatschappij die zich toelegt op productiebedrijven met een nicheproduct in de maritieme industrie. Tevens zoekt GPI een onderling toegevoegde waarde tussen de bedrijven die deel uitmaken van de groep. Na een aantal jaren minderheidsaandeelhouder binnen MarFlex Holding B.V. (MarFlex) te zijn geweest, heeft GPI in 2007 een aandeel van 75% in MarFlex verworven. Met het verwerven van dit meerderheidsbelang kon de MarFlex-organisatie aan de dynamische maritieme wereldmarkt aangepast worden. GPI is a private investment company, founded in 1997, which specialises in manufacturing companies with a niche product in the maritime industry. 10 MarFlex goes arctic In 2009 leverde MarFlex de lading-, ballast- en sloppompen maar ook de omvormers en elektromotoren voor twee Arctic tankers van de Russische rederij Sovcomflot. Deze schepen zijn gebouwd door Admiralty Shipyard in Sint Petersburg en hebben een capaciteit van Dwt. Een predocking vindt altijd plaats tijdens het lossen en veroorzaakt dus geen extra oponthoud. Nieuwe dienstverlening ARA-gebied Sinds 2009 bezoekt MarFlex alle schepen die het ARAgebied (Amsterdam Rotterdam Antwerpen) binnenvaren. Onze servicemedewerkers komen na goedkeuring van de rederij aan boord om de pompsystemen te controleren. Eventuele klachten tracht MarFlex nog dezelfde dag te verhelpen. Aangezien klanten enthousiast op de nieuwe dienstverlening reageren, wordt deze in de toekomst ook aangeboden in andere havengebieden zoals Houston en Singapore. Wij beschouwen de klant als partner in de keten, zegt Engineering/R&D Manager Jeroen Heijndijk. Met grote klanten sparren we regelmatig over de kwaliteit van onze producten. Op die manier betrekken we klanten actief bij de verdere verbetering van onze producten. Klanten zijn ook de motor achter de ontwikkeling van nieuwe producten. Uit klantengesprekken bleek dat de integratie van de MarFlex-pompen met andere systemen aan boord een meerwaarde oplevert. Met deze ontwikkeling is de afdeling R&D momenteel druk doende.

The R&D department is constantly looking for product improvements. Customers also participate with ideas about the development of our product portfolio. The R&D team is an internal knowledge centre for other departments at MarFlex. For instance, the Project department can ask about technical questions posed by customers, and the Service department is supported by R&D in the event of problems in supplied systems. Door ver vooruit te kijken kunnen we de benodigde mens- en machinecapaciteit ook op lange termijn nauwkeurig bepalen, zegt Logistics Manager Niels Ellenbroek. Via de planning op middellange termijn, de zogenoemde factory planning, hebben werkvoorbereiders goed inzicht in wat er gedaan moet worden en wat de bottlenecks zijn. Vanuit factory planning worden de orders verdeeld over workcenters. Dit garandeert een soepele overgang van het administratieve naar het productieproces. Ook de voorraadbeheersing, de opslag en het transport zijn in 2009 geoptimaliseerd. Als resultaat van deze verbeterprocessen is de leverbetrouwbaarheid van spare parts verhoogd naar ca. 95% en worden nieuwbouwprojecten gegarandeerd op tijd geleverd.
