3 De werkelijke bijdrage van IT: beslissingen over IT in de directie Dat is vaak erg lastig. De belangrijkste fenomenen zijn dan: - Wat betekent dit voor de business: (meer) risico? (hogere) kosten? an uphill battle - Hoe zit het met de governance / leadership / ownership en commitment? - Zit er een visie achter dit IT-voorstel of is het slechts (opnieuw) een investerings/kosten issue?

21 Weill & Ross: The key to effective IT portfolio management is to review your intended IT investments by asset class. Take into account your strategic goals, the risk-return profile of the IT asset classes and how IT-savvy you are today, and ask: Is this the right mix for us? Or do we need more cost saving or strategic investments this year?

23 Over investeringsmodellen (1) Vier redenen om bewust aandacht te schenken aan IT-investeringsvoorstellen: - voorkomen van misallocatie van financiële middelen - bepalen toekomstig functioneren van een organisatie - komen tot een gezamenlijke investeringsvisie - realiseren van succesvolle inzet van IT (Berghout & Renkema, 1999)

24 Over investeringsmodellen (2) Vier basisvormen: - Financiële methoden - Multicriteria methoden - Ratiomethoden - Portfoliomethoden - Belangrijk is of, en zo ja: hoe, men niet-financiële criteria wil betrekken bij de beoordeling. - Hoe ver wil men gaan in volledigheid en complexiteit van de beoordeling?

25 Over investeringsmodellen (3) - Het is niet eenvoudig welke methode in welke situatie tot de beste beslissing leidt. - Wie op zoek is naar een methode zal zich eerst af moeten vragen welke criteria hij/zij bij de beoordeling zal betrekken.

26 Over investeringsmodellen (4) - Financiële methoden: alleen consequenties die in geld kunnen worden uitgedrukt - Multicriteria methoden: kwantitatieve en kwalitatieve consequenties worden geprobeerd onder één noemer te krijgen - Ratiomethoden: zowel financiële als niet-financiële ratio s - Portfoliomethoden: investeringsmodellen af zetten tegen beslissingscriteria

27 Over investeringsmodellen (5) In de praktijk: ruwe methoden voor IT-investeringsbeoordelingen: - gemakkelijk te gebruiken - begrijpbaar voor iedereen - risico s van IT-investeringen zijn vaak zó groot dat de toegevoegde waarde van een verfijnde methode laag is. Richt je aandacht op risicobeheersing!
