4 Tijdens je derde bachelorfase als uitwisselingstudent(e) Tijdens je derde bachelorfase aan de Faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen kun je gedurende één semester les volgen aan een buitenlandse universiteit als uitwisselingsstudent. Buitenlandervaring opdoen kan binnen het Erasmus Plus Programma. Per opleiding zijn er akkoorden met verschillende Europese universiteiten. In totaal gaat het om meer dan 80 mogelijke bestemmingen binnen Europa. Buiten het Erasmus-circuit heeft de Faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen ook bilaterale akkoorden afgesloten met een aantal partners van Azie tot Amerika en wordt het aanbod continu verder uitgebreid. Zo zijn er in de V.S. akkoorden met de University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign en met Florida International University in Miami, in Canada met CEETUM in Montreal, in China met de universiteiten van Fudan en Jiaotong in Shanghai, in India met Jindal Global, in Taiwan met National Taiwan University in Taipei, in Rusland met de staats - universiteit van Sint-Petersburg en met de universiteit van Kazan, en in Zuid-Korea met National Seoul University. als summer school student Deelname aan een summer school in het buitenland wordt door de Faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen aangemoedigd. Mits aan bepaalde voorwaarden wordt voldaan, kan je in het academiejaar na het volgen van de summer school 3 tot 6 credits hiervoor krijgen in de vrije ruimte van je opleiding. als stagiair(e) (communicatiewetenschappen, politieke wetenschappen) Tijdens je derde bachelorfase communicatiewetenschappen en politieke wetenschappen kun je een studiestage in het buitenland doen, in het kader van een Erasmusuitwisseling. Een studiestage is een opleiding waarbij de stagiair, mede begeleid door de onderwijs - instelling, in een stageplaats (zoals een bedrijf of een organisatie) deelneemt aan de activiteiten van een reële arbeidspost. Voor de meeste studenten gaat het om een studiestage die deel uitmaakt van hun studieprogramma en waaraan studiepunten verbonden zijn. Sommige studenten doen een studiestage die geen deel uitmaakt van hun programma maar er wel een band mee heeft. Dit noemen we een vrijwillige studiestage.

5 Tijdens je masteropleiding voor masterproefonderzoek (masters communicatiewetenschappen, bedrijfscommunicatie, journalistiek, vergelijkende en internationale politiek, overheidsmanagement en -beleid, sociologie, sociaal werk, sociale en culturele antropologie en Social and Cultural Anthropology) Zin om (gedeeltelijk) tijdens het academiejaar of tijdens de vakantiemaanden in het buitenland te verblijven voor je masterproefonderzoek? Het kan, als je aan bepaalde voorwaarden voldoet. Onder andere als de activiteiten die in het buitenland uitgevoerd worden, bijdragen tot de realisatie van een masterproef in het kader van je studies en als je toelating krijgt van de masterproefpromotor en van de Faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen. De Adviescommissie Risicobestemmingen van KU Leuven be - oor deelt de risico s verbonden aan de buitenlandse bestemmingen waarnaar studenten willen afreizen.... voor een studiestage (master overheidsmanagement en -beleid) Tijdens je masteropleiding overheidsmanagement en -beleid kun je studiestage in het buitenland doen. Een studiestage is een opleiding waarbij de stagiair(e), mede begeleid door de onderwijsinstelling, in een stageplaats (zoals een bedrijf of een organisatie) deelneemt aan de activiteiten van een reële arbeidspost. De stage is primair bedoeld om de theoretische onderzoeksvragen, die centraal staan in de masterproef, te gaan toetsen aan de werkelijkheid. Om van een studiestage te kunnen spreken moet de stage bijgevolg duidelijk verband houden met de opleiding die de student in hetzelfde academiejaar aan de KU Leuven volgt. voor veldwerk (master sociale en culturele antropologie en Social and Cultural Anthropology) Tijdens de zomermaanden tussen de eerste en tweede opleidingsfase van de master in de sociale en culturele antropologie krijg je de kans om veldwerk voor je masterproefonderzoek te verrichten in een land van jouw keuze. Of je kunt gedurende één semester tijdens de tweede opleidingsfase van de master in de sociale en culturele antropologie in het kader van het European Certificate in Anthropology of Social Dynamics and Development veldwerk doen in België, Nederland, Frankrijk of Zweden. Je masterproefonderzoek telt voor 30 studiepunten en handelt over een thema in sociale veran - dering of ontwikkeling(ssamenwerking). Je kan je ook kandidaat stellen om deel te nemen aan de summer school aan Cuming University in Yunan (China) waar een combinatie van lessen en veldwerk wordt geboden. De geselecteerde studenten kunnen gratis deelnemen aan deze summer school, inclusief verblijf. Contactpersoon voor info over deze summer school: Prof. dr. Ching Lin Pang. als uitwisselingstudent(e) (antropologie en journalistiek) binnen het Erasmus Plus programma Tijdens je tweede masterfase antropologie kun je gedurende één semester les volgen aan een buitenlandse universiteit als uitwisselingsstudent binnen het Erasmus Lifelong Learning Programma. Buiten het Erasmus-circuit zijn er ook mogelijkheden voor een semesterverblijf bij 1 van de partner - instellingen buiten Europa, zoals in de V.S. (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Florida International University), Canada (CEETUM in Montreal), Zuid-Korea (Seoul National University), Taiwan (Taiwan National University in Taipei), China (Fudan en Shanghai Jiaotong), Japan (Kobe University) en India (Jindal Global University en Nehru University). Studenten van de eenjarige master - opleiding journalistiek in Brussel en in Antwerpen kunnen kandideren voor een semesterverblijf aan de College of Media aan de University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in de V.S.

6 Tijdens je Engelstalige master of manama MSc in Social and Cultural Anthropology (120 ECTS) You have experienced other cultures now try to understand them. The two-year MSc in Social and Cultural Anthropology first acquaints you with the basic concepts and theoretical approaches in classical and contemporary anthropology and the main methodological principles of fieldwork. Then choose a specialisation in either African anthropology, or in interculturalism, migration, and minorities. In the former, you ll confront the impact of (de)colonisation, city-life, diamond smuggling, children and youth, and the environment in Africa. In the latter, you ll study the social problems of multi-ethnic societies in a context of globalisation, paying special attention to Asian, Latin American, and Islamic immigration. You can then explore a career in policy, development, management, education, government, NGOs, private corporations, or research. One thing is certain: the new perspectives and ideas gained in this programme will stay with you throughout your professional life. CADES - MSc in Cultures & Development Studies (60 ECTS) Open-ended career possibilities in development await you, the graduate of the MSc in Cultures and Development Studies (CADES) programme. Rooted in contemporary social and cultural anthropology, the programme nevertheless draws on various disciplines and entertains a wealth of relevant perspectives. In addition to coursework and a research-based thesis, a minimum six-week intercultural internship will complete your international experience. Able to relate their domain-specific knowledge within the evolving North-South debate, our graduates go on to a large variety of jobs in NGOs, international organisations, development co-operation, education, social and medical services, advisory organisations, international relations, enterprises, and research. MITRA - Master Erasmus Mundus Intercultural Mediation: Identities, Mobilities, Conflicts Do you have an interest in intercultural mediation and wish to travel to far-flung places? MITRA is the place to do it! With this Master s course you can study, for 24 months in (at least) two European and Non-European Countries, such as: Belgium, France, Ireland, Romania, Senegal, Mexico, Poland and/or Brazil. 7 IMPALLA - MSc in Social Policy Analysis (60 ECTS) Are you looking for an advanced academic degree in international comparative social policy research? The MEPP programme is designed to complement and expand your background in the institutional developments and political processes of your home country and the European Union. It will harness the diversity of the European experience and solidify your professional and research prospects. Elective courses address your areas of specialisation and interest, be they specific policy issues, politics, economics or law. And as part of the European Master of Public Administration Network (EMPA), the MEPP programme offers a semester of study abroad, with destinations including Geneva, Budapest, Paris and Milan. But your journey, and future, starts in Leuven only 20 minutes from the European institutions in Brussels. European students in the MEPP programme can participate in the GLiMPSE programme (Global Leaders in Management and Policies for South Korea and Europe), adding a year of study at KDI School of Public Management or at Seoul National University with a grant from the European Commission after having completed the MEPP programme earning a dual degree in the end. Ph D students Ph D students have the opportunity to stay in Shanghai, Kobe and Seoul for half a year, to collect data for their research.
