6 THE BIG 3 40% is the share of worldwide manufacturing (a total of EUR 6,577 bn) held by emerging countries. They have doubled their share in the last two decades. As part of traditional industrial economies, Western Europe has lost over 10% of manufacturing value added, from 36% to 25% bn To assume a leading role in Industry 4.0, Europe will have to invest EUR 90 bn a year over the next 15 years a total of EUR 1,350 bn 20% Traditional industrial policy will not provide enough support for value creation in Europe. To reach the goal of 20% industrial value added (from 15% today), we propose a new agenda for shaping a vision of Industry 4.0 in Europe 6

In this concept, data is gathered from suppliers, customers and the company itself and evaluated before being linked up with real production. The latter is increasingly using new technologies such as sensors, 3D printing and next-generation robots. The result: production processes are fine-tuned, adjusted or set up differently in real time. 10 Smart Industry De vierde industriële revolutie is een feit. Door nieuwe productietechnologieën en de verdere integratie van ict in het hele proces van ontwerpen, fabriceren en distribueren, verandert de industrie radicaal. Mede door de sterke positie van Nederland in design, systeemontwerp en logistiek biedt deze ontwikkeling veel kansen voor de industrie. In navolging van het Duitse programma Industrie 4.0', is er nu het Nederlandse initiatief Smart Industry Dutch Industry fit for the future. Op 7 april 2014 is deze industriële verkenning door de voorzitter van de FME aangeboden aan premier Rutte tijdens de Hannover Messe

11 Rutte: industrie 4.0 omarmen 7 april De komst van nieuwe economische grootmachten, zorgt voor een verschuiving. Volgens premier Rutte moet Nederland dat als een aansporing zien tot een vierde industriële revolutie. Industrie 4.0 is echt meer dan alleen maar product en prijs. Het draait steeds meer ook om het delen van kennis. Bij de opening van business summit The future of industry op de Hannover Messe sprak Rutte in bijzijn van onder meer de Duitse onderwijsminister Wanka lovende woorden, over de wereldtop in high tech kennis die hij al had gezien. De toekomst van de industrie ziet er veelbelovend uit. Maar, de Nederlandse overheidsuitgaven voor innovatie dalen van 2,1 miljard euro dit jaar tot 1,6 miljard in

12 Agenda Smart Industry Versneld ontwikkelen en toepassen van nieuwe producten, productietechnologieën en businessmodellen op basis van reeds beschikbare kennis: New business with Smart Industry. Bevordering van cross-sectorale kennisontwikkeling en overdracht: New knowlegde with impact for Smart Industry. Meer kennis en vaardigheden van de werknemers. De arbeidsmarkt vraagt om New skills for Smart Industry. Het scheppen van de juiste randvoorwaarden voor de ondersteuning van de Smart Industry-revolutie zoals een excellente ict infrastructuur

21 Antje en Angela in Hannover op de bres voor Industrie 4.0 Nederlandse ondernemers springen niet genoeg in op technische ontwikkelingen in de Duitse productiesector. Dat blijkt uit een rapport van het ING Economisch Bureau dat onlangs op de grootste industriebeurs ter wereld, de Hannover Messe, werd gepresenteerd. 22 Innovatie-gedreven groei vereist onderzoek & ontwikkeling (R&D) van topniveau Het World Economic Forum plaatst Nederland in een groep met nog 31 landen waarin de economische groei innovatie-gedreven is. We kunnen ervan uitgaan dat deze groep landen groter wordt. Om China nog eens aan te halen: de groei daar is voorlopig efficiency-gedreven, maar zal op termijn ook sterker innovatie-gedreven zijn. Bepalend voor innovatie-gedreven groei is de kwaliteit van het R&D-programma. Van 8 naar 80: Vertienvoudiging banen bij succesvol R&D 1 mln R&D loon 8 banen in R&D 24 + banen in de + productie 24 banen bij leverancier 32 + banen in dienstverlening Boegbeelden maakindustrie investeren fors in R&D Bosch 8,0% van de omzet ( 3,8 miljard) ASML 11,6% van de omzet ( 523 miljoen) Siemens 5,1% van de omzet ( 3,85 miljard) Philips 6,2% van de omzet ( 1,58 miljard) Daimler 5,0% van de omzet ( 4,85 miljard) Dus: voor het scheppen van banen moet je 240 M in R&D loon investeren

23 Licht optimisme In 2014 verwacht ABN Amro een beperkte productiegroei met 1,5%. Hierbij is alle hoop gevestigd op de export, die vooral profiteert van de relatief sterkere groei in Duitsland (+4%), de Verenigde Staten en opkomende markten. In 2014 laten de meeste branches een beperkte productiegroei zien. Dit is onder meer mede afhankelijk van de exportgerichtheid, het aandeel van markten buiten de eurozone en de positie in de waardeketen. De machine-industrie scoort hier beter dan andere branches

24 Arnold Koning, sectormanager industrie We moeten inhaken op Industrie 4.0, waarbij grote datastromen worden toegepast en geïnterpreteerd, waarbij een toeleverketen van bedrijven, logistiek en consument aan elkaar gekoppeld worden. Zo kan slimmer en efficiënter geproduceerd kan worden. Als je alle bedrijven binnen een keten wilt laten samenwerken, is met name het vermogen tot samenwerken van groot belang, zegt Koning. "En daar is Nederland wellicht beter in dan Duitsland. Nederland is gewend aan samenwerking binnen een geïntegreerde toevoerketen. De Duitse industrie doet toch nog heel veel onder één dak en de vraag is of dat in de toekomst nog houdbaar is of dat ze meer samenwerking in de keten moeten zoeken."
