2 Introduction It has been my pleasure over the past several years to offer updates and some analysis of one of our sports favorite sons, Gaby Vandenabeele. We need to pause, recognize and hail the very great talents that have preceded us in making this sport the worldwide phenomena it is and promises to be. Without the interactions of Hansennes, Wegges, Sions, Vanbraunes and many others with rock doves, etc, we would not have a sport to participate in. Gaby Vandenabeele is of this ilk. Readers can now survey results in their own area, continent and find the remarkable impact of the Gaby Vandenabeele family of birds. Other articles have featured and discussed racing strategies, breeding strategy, birds etc. The information is found in English, Chinese, Dutch, Thai and other languages. ( PIPA, Heart of England and others). The person, Gaby Vandenabeele, is open about his birds, passionate, fair minded and extremely honest. To gain some insight into the scope of the Vandenabeele victories this writer asked Gaby from which countries he had heard of victories. He mentioned that it was impossible to say which countries but that he had references from all over the world including Europe, the Americas- USA, South America, Canada, Africa, Australia, Asia- China, Japan etc. Gaby himself is not interested in championships. His family of birds, however, have won such all over the world including A&R Desaer of Ruiselede, Belgium 2 nd Champion of Belgium KBDB Long Distance 2009 and st Champion of Belgium KBDB Long Distance. Norbert Ally, Aarsele 2010 General Champion of Belgium KBDB. Wolfgang Roeper, Germany General Champion of Germany Gevaert Lannoo 2 nd National Ace Pigeon Youngsters Middle Distance KBDB and others. In terms of prize money Gaby estimates that it is reasonable to accept that that the Kleinen offspring are responsible for winning several millions of dollars all over the world. With children and grandchildren of the Kleinen Gaby believes that prizes won exceed 10,000 prizes. Readers should consider their own race sheets in their own localities and then extrapolate. Consider that Gaby won 2 nd SAMDR 2010 and his bloodlines took 2 nd, 3 rd and 30 th January Gaby blood took 2 nd places in the final Tenerife races 2009 and 2010 to mention but a few. Other top money prizes were taken in Thailand by Gaby blood.

These include local, region, provincial, zone and national races. These results are a repeat of what has been recorded over the past decade or more. Gaby has provided the pedigrees of his first two arrivals in every 2010 race. While way too much to entirely place in this writing, the following summary is provided about these arrivals starting with ring year a solid Gaby with the bloodlines of Neptunus (Wolfgang) Turbo, Wittenbuik. This bird also took top prizes from Bourges, Argenton and Souillac times Wittenbuik, 1 x Picanol and Groten. Also shows a line from Gaby s good friend Rik Cools. Also took top positions Orleons, Brive, Souillac and Tulle From the Picanol line (Fideel) and Wittenbuik. This 50% Gaby also presents Bolle and Casaert. These lines are found in earlier Gaby crosses as well. Other top results include Tours, Brive and Tule.

11 CONCLUSIONS 2010 The above summary identifies Gaby s first two birds to loft over 17 contests. As a matter of statistics Gaby based birds were among the top two birds to his lofts 85% of the time. There were 5 non Gaby birds that clocked among the top two 2 birds. The results demonstrate that Gaby is not a purist but truly seeks top performers outside of his culture to add back to his core family of the Kleinen line and has done so since 1982, 29 years. Given this it is fair to say that Gaby has a fully matriculated family of birds that is very dynamic. The evidence is clear that Gaby has access to the best lines available internationally. LOOKING TO THE FUTURE Gaby has liberally sought the best of the best from key lofts in Belgium, Netherlands, France and others to bring into his colony. These introductions are tested in his own racing teams as well as well as the breeding loft.
