1 Dear Parents/Carers Welcome to our penultimate newsletter of the year. The end of the school year is a very busy time with lots of exciting things happening. We hope that we will see you at the Zomerfeest at your child s location. Staffing News We are pleased to inform you that Ms. Kristen from VNS has given birth to a son. After the May holiday we welcomed Ms. Bregje back from her maternity leave. We know that we will be saying good bye to a number of staff at the end of the year. Ms. Andrea Robson is leaving us to take on the headship of a school in Spain. Ms. Jo Bolton from VNS is moving to the DIPS school in Delft. Ms. Laura Spalding from KSS is going to teach at the BSN. Ms. Ruth Lampitt is leaving to pursue a course of study. We have a number of new staff joining the school next year from overseas. We will tell you more in our staffing letter which will go out in July. The International Department continues to expand with an additional ID5 class at VNS. This makes 27 classes in all! Pupil Survey Over the recent years the HSV has carried out staff and parent surveys. It is now the turn of the students. During the coming weeks the children in classes ID4-6 and NA5-8 will complete a pupil survey. These surveys give us valuable input in making plans and decisions about the school. School Council All of our locations have a student council. The school council is a forum for pupils to share their ideas with each other and the school leadership. At the end of April we had our first inter-location meeting. Children from the NA and ID from all the locations met at KSS. They had lunch and a tour of the building. The meeting was a great success. The children provided an update for each other on the activities in their location. They also discussed ideas for creating a location and whole school mascot. The next interlocation meeting will be held at VNS. Beste ouders, verzorgers, Hierbij treft u de nieuwsbrief van de maand juni. De laatste weken van het schooljaar zijn altijd druk en er gebeuren nog vele spannende activiteiten. We hopen dat we u allen kunnen ontmoeten op ons zomerfeest. Leerlingtevredenheidspeiling Een aantal jaar geleden hebben we een oudertevredenheispeiling gehouden. Daarna een leerkrachtpeiling. Komende weken houden we een leerlingtevredenheidspeiling. Deze peilingen geven ons weer waardevolle informatie zodat we ons onderwijs nog verder kunnen verbeteren. Dit zal plaats vinden in de groepen NA 5 t/m NA8 en ID 4 t/m ID 6. Leerlingraad Alle locaties hebben een leerling-raad. Dit is een plek waar leerlingen hun ideeën met anderen en het management van de school kunnen delen. Eind april hebben we een inter-locatie overleg gehouden. Kinderen van de NA en de ID van alle locaties kwamen bijeen op de school aan de Koningin Sofiestraat. Zij hebben gezamenlijk geluncht en een rondleiding door het gebouw gekregen. Ze hebben gesproken over de zaken die op elke locatie spelen. Ze hebben ook gesproken over het bedenken en kiezen van een mascotte voor elke locatie en een voor de gehele school. De volgende inter-locatie bijeenkomst vindt plaats op de locatie VNS. Vakanties voor de rest van het schooljaar Zomervakantie 2015 Maandag 13 juli tot en met vrijdag 21 augustus Op vrijdag 10 juli stopt de school om 12.30uur. De eerste schooldag is dan op maandag 24 augustus. Kamp voor NA 8 De leerlingen van onze groep 8 gaan ook dit jaar weer op kamp. Dit gaat gebeuren op maandag 8 juni en op de vrijdag komen ze weer terug. Laten we hopen dat de zon voor hen zal schijnen.

2 Holidays for the rest of the year Summer holiday 2015 Monday 13 th July until Friday 21st August School closes at 12:30 on Friday July 10th and reopens on Monday 24 th August. School Times from 2015/16 Year Onwards From the beginning of the next school year school will start at 8:30 for all children with the exception of IDR and ID 1 and NA1 and NA2, who must arrive at school from 8:30 onwards and be ready for the start of lessons at 8:45. From September 2015 this will be obligatory and latecomers will be dealt with under the leerplicht regulations. (School Attendance) Camp for NA8 Children The children in NA8 will go on school camp the week beginning 8th June. Let s hope that the sun shines for them. Dates Wednesday 17 th June: Bovenbouw Sports Day : ID4 ID5 and ID6: NA groepen 5, 6, 7,8 Wednesday 24 th June: Middenbouw Sports Day: ID2 and ID3; NA groepen 3 and 4 Friday June 26th VNS and KSS Zomerfeest at locations Saturday June 27th NSL Zomerfeest will be on. Dates for Next Term IDR children will receive home visits the week beginning Monday August 24 th and start school on Monday August 31 st. On Thursday 3rd September at 18:30 there will be an Information Evening for Parents with your child s new class teacher. You will also get the chance to meet the support and specialist teachers. On Friday 11 th September we would like to end the week with a repeat of the International Food Fair that we held last year. We will ask everyone to bring along typical food from their country to share. Further details will follow. It will be a lovely way to end the week. Ouders zijn hierbij van harte welkom op het plein om 12.15u. Activiteiten in het nieuwe schooljaar Op donderdag 3 september is er de informatieavond voor de ouders in de klas van uw kind. U kunt op deze avond ook kennismaken met onze vakleerkrachten en ondersteunend personeel. Vrijdag 11 september willen we de week besluiten met een herhaling van de International Food Fair die we vorig jaar voor het eerst hebben georganiseerd. Donderdag 17 september is het schoolbrengdag. De dag waar we promoten om de kinderen niet met de auto maar per fiets of lopend naar school te brengen. De kinderen krijgen natuurlijk weer de gebruikelijke badge om deze dag extra aandacht te geven. Please note that we are extending the length of the camp by one night. Parents will receive a letter about this shortly. News from the MR The MR met at the end of March. One of the issues discussed was changing the starting time of the school day for children in ID 2 and ID 3 to be consistent with the Dutch department. The school plan was approved in principle. Children in NA 1 and their teachers have appeared on TV West and talked about their experiences with TPO (Bi-lingual education). The video has been put on the HSV web-site. Zomerfeest-message from the OAC-Parent Zomervakantie 11 juli - vrijdag 19 augustus 2016 NB aansluitend, voor en na, vakanties wordt geen extra vakantieverlof verleend. Frans de Jong Director of the Dutch Department Lorraine Janet Dean Director of the International Department Nassaulaan Nieuws Schoolkamp NA 7 en ID 6 Volgend schooljaar gaan deze twee groepen op kamp van dinsdag 29 september tot en met vrijdag 2 oktober. Dit is een dag langer dan voorgaande jaren. Uiteraard ontvangen de betrokken ouders nog nadere informatie hierover. MR nieuws: De MR had een vergadering op 30 maart. Een van de discussiepunten was de begintijd van de schooldag voor kinderen in ID 2 en ID 3. Deze wordt vanaf volgend schooljaar op één lijn gebracht met de Nederlandse afdeling. De Schoolplan werd in principe goedgekeurd. Er is een video van de TV West opname, waarin kinderen en leerkrachten uit NA 1 over hun ervaringen met TPO praten, op de HSV web-site geplaatst. Zomerfeest Ook dit jaar organiseert de OAC het jaarlijkse HSV zomerfeest. Dit jaar zal dit op zaterdag 27 juni van t/m uur gevierd worden. Het thema is, hoe kan het ook anders met een prachtig nieuw groen schoolplein en een zachte groene winter achter de rug te hebben: APRES SKI! De middag zal in het teken staan van gezelligheid voor groot en klein. Er zullen activiteiten zijn voor de allerkleinsten, maar ook voor de oudere kinderen is er genoeg te doen. Traditioneel zal er weer een Internationale Foodfair plaatsvinden en zijn de hotdog- friet- en

4 Activity Commission This year the OAC (Parent Activity Committee) is organising the annual NSL Zomerfeest. It will take place this year on Saturday 27 th June from The theme this year is APRES SKI! How could it be anything else with a super new green playground and a soft green winter just behind us! The afternoon will be fun filled for young and old. There will be activities for the very youngest pupils and also activities for the older children. As is now a tradition an International Food Fair will take place and the hotdog stand, chip van and ice cream stall will form part of the fun. During the Zomerfeest payment can be made using consumptie bonnen (strips of tickets) which will be sold on the day. In the second week of June we will begin selling strips of tickets at 5.00 euro for the children. With these cards the children can get a drink, something to eat and an ice cream and also with this card there are some activities that can be done. To get this day to work we will need help from many parents, older pupils and volunteers. We would love you to volunteer via your class parents for setting up of the party, during the party (bar duty, supervision at bouncy castle) or for clean up at the end of the Zomerfeest. Tijdens het feest kan er betaald worden met consumptiebonnen, die ter plekke worden verkocht. Dit jaar gaan wij ook in de 2 e week van juni van start met een voorverkoop van strippenkaarten a EUR5,00 voor de kinderen. Met deze strippenkaart kunnen de kinderen zelf drinken, wat te eten en een ijsje halen, ook zijn hiermee een aantal extra activiteiten te doen. Zonder hulp van alle ouders, leerlingen uit de bovenbouw en vrijwilligers kunnen wij niet. Dus geef je op als vrijwilliger, via de klassenouders kunt u uw hulp aanbieden bij de opbouw van het feest, tijdens het feest (bardienst, begeleiding bij springkussen) of bij het opruimen aansluitend aan het feest. Wij vertrouwen erop U allen in grote getalen bij het zomerfeest te kunnen verwelkomen. Namens de HSV Ouder Activiteiten Commissie tot de 27 ste! 5 Friday 10 th July: 12.15: Final Countdown (Noisy!!) to School Holidays-Parents/Carers invited on Schoolyard at HSV/Schoolplein Committee Dinner and Auction 2HSV dinner and auction was a great success: euro has been raised now, amazing! Even before the evening had started the "online" auction had raised over 6,000! The evening itself raised a further 14,000. School contributed 10,000 euros to make 30,000 euros. It was a fantastic evening. The auction under the guidance of Willem Jan Hoogsteder ran smoothly and there were many bids by the participants. The famous cow, made by the children of NA1a/b was sold for Because of this result the sport field can be constructed. We are very grateful to 2HSV in conjunction with members of the Playground Committee and all participants who helped to make this event the great success it was. It is just another proof of the partnership we have with parents at our school and the wonderful sense of school community that we share. 2 HSV/ Schoolpleincommissie Diner en Veiling Beste ouders, Het zit erop! We kunnen terugkijken op niet alleen een succesvolle veiling, maar ook op een zeer geslaagde avond! We willen u allen dan ook heel hartelijk danken voor uw inbreng van veiling items, deelname en biedingen, zowel online als tijdens de avond en niet te vergeten uw gezelligheid gedurende het diner! Op de website van 2HSV, kunt u terecht voor een sfeer impressie. De avond is mede tot een groot succes geworden door de prachtige locatie (het Aloysius College), de goede spijzen van Werelds, de wijn van Marius en de creatieve bijdragen van onze eigen kinderen en de leerkrachten. De veiling stond onder de bezielende leiding van HSV-fan Willem-Jan Hoogsteder (bekend van 'Tussen Kunst & Kitsch'). Hij wist de aanwezigen er toe te verleiden goed te bieden op de items van de veiling. De veiling heeft bijna euro opgebracht. Als we dit resultaat optellen bij de eerdere acties van de Schoolplein commissie, 2HSV en een mooie bijdrage van school, komen we uit op een totaal van euro. Daarnaast zullen deze week de kinderen hun eigen gemaakte setjes kaarten mee naar huis krijgen, die zij mogen verkopen aan opa's en oma's, familie, goede vrienden en buren! Ook deze opbrengst zal het schoolplein ten goede komen, waarmee we graag aan willen geven, dat het sportveld gerealiseerd kan worden en met wat extra s uit de wensenlijst kan worden aangevuld!!
