1 Brinsea Elektronische Controle Unit Type BPL Algemeen MONTAGE INSTRUCTIES De installatie/vervanging van dit onderdeel dient uitsluitend door gekwalificeerd personeel te worden uitgevoerd. VOORDAT U MET DE REPARATIE START HAAL DE UNIT VAN DE NETSTROOM AF! Deze unit is geschikt als vervangend onderdeel voor de volgende modellen: a) Electroturn 80 broedmachine b) Hatchmaker broedmachine c) Polyhatch broedmachine d) Hatchmaster broedmachine e) En de latere modellen van de Prestige Verzorgingskooi Deze elektrische schakelaar kan de eerdere versies vervangen, welke met zwarte knoppen zijn vastgezet. 2 2. Montage Het schema hierboven geeft de connecties weer zoals deze te zien zijn vanuit de componenten zijde van de printplaat. Nadat alle elektrische aansluitingen zijn verricht, wordt de printplaat aan de behuizing (van zwart plastic of van aluminium) met de moer op de temperatuurregelaar bevestigd. De volgorde van bevestiging luidt als volgt: a) Plastic flensring (flens van de printplaat afwijzend) b) Behuizing temperatuurregelaar c) Metalen sluitring d) Moer Aantekening: de witte plastic sluitring is alleen maar nodig, indien de behuizing van de machine van metal is (zie ommezijde). De draad van de regelaar is van plastic en er is enige voorzicht geboden om te voorkomen de moer niet te strak aan te draaien. Verzekert u dat de flens van de sluitring zich aan de binnenkant van het gaatje in de behuizing bevindt als de moer wordt aangedraaid Montage op oudere Hatchmaker en Polyhatch modellen met een metalen regelaarbehuizing a) Na verwijdering van de ode printplaat en de behuizing van geperforeerd aluminium, dient de aluminium plaat van de deksel van de broedmachine te worden verwijderd door de drie schroeven los te draaien. De nieuwe printplaat dient aan deze plaat te worden bevestigd, voordat het geheel weer gemonteerd kan worden. b) De gladde witte sluitring dient tussen de flensring en de metalen behuizing te worden geplaatst, terwijl ook zeker gesteld dient te worden dat de flens van de flensring in het gaatje van de behuizing rust. c) Bij oudere broedmachines is de neon niet nodig en kan hij daarom naar achteren, over de printplaat heen, worden gevouwen, zodat hij niet in de weg zit. d) De draden van de temperatuursensor zullen voor een aantal oudere machines te lang zijn en zouden daarom nietjes in de behuizing worden weggewerkt door ze te vouwen. Er dient namelijk alleen maar een klein stukje draad door het gaatje in de witte plastic buigbare sheet uit te steken.

3 2.2. Verzorgingskooi De witte neonlamp dient voorzichtig met een kleine draadtang of schaar te worden verwijderd. De sluitringen kunnen worden weggehaald. a) Verwijder de thermometer van de houder en haal de onderliggende controle sensor uit. b) Maak de schroeven van de controller behuizing los en duw de sensor terug door het gaatje in het kooigeraamte. c) Schroef de moer van de controle pin los en verwijder de printplaat uit de behuizing. d) Schroef de vier schroeven van de aansluiting los en verwijder de draden. e) Montage geschiedt in omgekeerde volgorder van de punten hierboven. De printplaataansluitingen dienen volgens bovenvermeld schema te geschieden. 3. Calibratie De temperatuuraanpassingen kunnen worden uitgevoerd door met een kleine schroevendraaier aan de controle pin te draaien (de knop van de oude controle unit kan niet meer worden vastgezet). De controle unit heft een brede draagwijdte (ongeveer graden Celsius) verspreid over 20 omwentelingen van de controle schroef. De controle unit wordt al kant-enklaar geleverd voor gebruik en zou, eens in de broedmachine geïnstalleerd, aan dienen te worden gelaten om te kunnen acclimatiseren en stabiliseren. Dan pas is het raadzaam om de temperatuur doormiddel van de controle schroef aan te passen om de correcte temperatuur te verkrijgen. Een kwart omwenteling van de controleschroef komt met ongeveer 1 graad Celsius overeen. De controleschroef raakt niet beschadigd als deze boven haar capaciteit wordt aangedraaid. ATTENTIE: Verzeker u dat alle draden en isolatiematerialen weer op de correcte manier worden gemonteerd. Mocht u hierover twijfels hebben, neem dan contact met ons op. 5 FITTING The diagram above shows the connections as viewed from the component side of the circuit board. After the electrical connections have been made the board is secured to the housing (either aluminium or black plastic) by the nut on the temperature adjuster. The fitting sequence must be: a) Plastic washer (with shoulder facing away from the circuit board) b) Controller housing c) Metal washer d) The nut. Note: The plain white plastic washer is only required for machines with metal controller housings (see overleaf). The thread of the adjuster is plastic and so care must be taken not to over tighten the nut. Make sure that the shoulder on the plastic washer is locating within the hole in the housing as the nut is tightened. NOTES FOR FITTING TO OLDER HATCHMAKERS AND POLYHATCHES WITH METAL CONTROLLER HOUSINGS a) After the perforated aluminium cover and old circuit board are removed the plain aluminium pressing must be removed from the incubator lid by unscrewing the three remaining screws. The new circuit board is then attached to this aluminium pressing prior to re-assembling. b) The plain white washer must be fitted between the flanged washer and the metal housing whilst ensuring that the flange still locates in the hole in the aluminium. c) On earlier incubators the neon is not required and should be folded back over the circuit board out of the way. d) The temperature sensor leads will be excessively long for earlier machines and these should be neatly folded within the control housing enclosure leaving the end of the sensor just protruding through the hole in the white flexible plastic sheet. Hospital Cage The clear neon lamp should be carefully removed using small wire cutters or scissors and discard the washers. a) Remove the thermometer from its holder and pull out the control sensor below.

6 b) Unscrew the four screws holding the controller housing in place and pull sensor back though hole in cage body. c) Unscrew the control spindle nut and remove the control board from the housing. d) Unscrew the four connector screws and remove the wires. e) Refitting is reverse of the sequence above. Board connections are as shown in diagram overleaf. CALIBRATION Temperature adjustment on the controller is made by turning the control spindle with a small screwdriver (- the knob from the old controller cannot be re-fitted).the controller has a wide range of adjustment (roughly deg. C) over around 20 revolutions of the control screw. The controller is supplied set to roughly the temperature needed for incubation and so once installed the incubator should be left on to allow the temperature to stabilize and then the control screw adjusted to achieve the correct temperature. As a rough guide one quarter of a turn of the screw represents about one degree C change. The control screw is not damaged by turning it beyond its range. CAUTION: Be sure to re-fit wires and any insulators as they were found. If in doubt consult our service dept.
