1 C o m u n i c a t o S t a m p a 2 Aprile Luglio 2011 Inaugurazione Sabato 2 Aprile 2011, ore Ogni opera é concepita come un ciclo, un sistema epistemologico autonomo, e trovo l idea di mono, e in generale l idea di univoco, molto pertinente per definire un atteggiamento scientifico ricorrente. Dall inizio della storia scientifica c é sempre stata una successione di modelli e tentativi di interpretazione e conoscenza sulle questioni fondamentali come l origine dell universo e la realtá che ci circonda. Un monopolio scientifico che si é assunto la presunzione di spiegare tutto. Infinite ipotesi ed enunciati, ma la risposta resta comunque e sempre sconosciuta. Personalmente mi affascina questa reticenza ad ammettere che forse la sola Veritá é che l uomo non é stato programmato per saperlo e forse non lo saprá mai. L immensitá di ció che non conosciamo, che lo si accetti o no, resta comunque la nostra più grande libertá. 2 P e r s b e r i c h t 2 April Juli 2011 Opening: Zaterdag 2 April 2011, uur Elk werk is als een cyclus, een autonoom epistemologisch systeem, en ik vind het idee van mono, in de betekenis van eenduidig, heel toepasselijk om een telkens weer terugkerende manier van denken in het wetenschappelijke milieu te beschrijven. Vanaf het begin van haar geschiedenis heeft wetenschappelijke kennis zich ontwikkeld als een opeenvolging van modellen en van pogingen om fundamentele kwesties op te lossen zoals het ontstaan van het universum en van de werkelijkheid om ons heen. Een wetenschappelijk monopolie dat pretendeert alles te kunnen verklaren. Oneindig veel hypotheses en stellingen, maar het uiteindelijke antwoord blijft hoe dan ook altijd onbekend. Persoonlijk ben ik gefascineerd door deze terughoudendheid om te erkennen dat misschien de enige Waarheid is dat de mens niet gemaakt is om alles te weten en dat dus wellicht die onmetelijkheid van wat we niet weten, of je dat nu accepteert of niet, in elk geval onze grootste vrijheid vormt. From the beginning of the scientific history there always has been a sequence of models and consequently a lot of efforts were made to answer fundamental questions regarding the origin of the universe or to interpretate the reality that surround us. A scientific monopoly that assumed the presumption of explaining everything. Infinite hypothesis and answers, but the real Answer remains unknown. I m personally fascinated by this reticence in admitting that maybe the only Truth is that the man has not been programmed to know it and that maybe he will never know. The immensity of what we don t know - we can accept it or not - remains our biggest freedom.
