Geïnspireerd door een echte Sergeant uit het Amerikaanse leger Dit verhaal start aan het eind van een van zijn missies, waarbij een terrorist zich weet op te stellen in de terug vlucht, en zo doende de privé woning van de sergeant ontdekt, hij seint het door aan zijn thuis basis.. Dit hoort de Amerikaanse veiligheidsdienst, en besluit de sergeant en zijn familie in veiligheid te brengen in het buitenland... In dit geval... een klein dorpje in Nederland. Sgt. Benbo inspired by a real Sergeant in the US military. The story starts on the tail end of one of his latest missions, were terrorists hitch a ride on one of their helicopters. Doing so finding out where the sarge s private residence are located and lets his fellow terrorists know where that is. 5 Roland Moonen s FOLLOW THE NORM Comic Ellen, is een jonge levenslustige meid met grote dromen, helaas voor onze heldin leeft ze in een politiestaat, waar de regels zo strak zijn aangespannen dat de levenslust van de mensen die er wonen word gehalveerd en zo in een constante depressie leven.. Vandaar dat Ellen vooral in haar gedachte leeft. Op een nacht, waar ze in een delta slaap valt, gebeurd er iets vreemds... Ellen is a young spirited girl with big dreams, Sadly for our heroine, she lives in a police state, where the rules are so harsh, that the people living there are living in a constant depression.. 9 Comic T H EL I T T L E TM Na een warm-up sketch tijdens de stripdagen 2014 merkte Roland dat het character iets meer te zeggen had dan alleen maar Héy Deze tekening ontpopte tot een gigantisch verhaal. de rest van het jaar was Roland bezig met scripten van The Little Freak wat ongeveer exact een jaar later afgerond was, nu bezig met de pagina s uit te werken en ze in comicbook formaat te gieten. De bedoeling is om ze uiteindelijk uit te (laten?) brengen in een US comic formaat, en ééns per maand of per twee maanden uit te geven. (opzoek naar adverteerders.) After a warm-up sketch during the stripdagen 2014, Roland noticed this particular drawing wanted a bit more attention, this sketch turned out to have a gigantic story to tell. After drawing the character, and for the rest of the year Roland started working out the story. Exactly one year later the roughdraft of the story was finished, and he started to work on the actual pages, so he could place them in a (US) comic format and publish it once a month or once every two month. 13 The Blue Hat By: Roland Moonen Comic Geïnspireerd door een reclame campagne met Cara Delevigne, kwam dit kleurrijke karakter uit genaamd De Blauwe Hoed, naast de eerste 9 prints begon er wat te borrelen in het brein van Roland Moonen, wat uiteindelijke het eerste korte verhaal werd, genaamd De Juwelen dief. Met het eerste korte verhaal afgerond, en nu 10 solo karakter illustraties, ziet het er naar uit dat het korte verhaal een volg zal krijgen. (Dit concept is prima geschikt als voorpublicatie in een mode glossy.) After getting inspired by a campaign featuring Cara Delevigne, Roland Moonen created a character named The Blue Hat after making 9 illustrations featuring that character in various poses, some thing started to happen in the brain of her creator. Not long after, he wrote the first short story named Jewel Thief, with the first short done, and now 10 solo character illustration available. It looks like it s a possibility that the short story might be getting a continuation as well as a few more solo illustrations. 17 Character Prints Prints Als strip liefhebber had Roland natuurlijk graag prenten, originele pagina s van zijn favoriete strips in zijn bezit, helaas waren (en zijn) originele pagina s, prenten, en illustraties lastig aan te komen, en heel prijzig. Daarom besloot Roland van zijn originele characters printjes in het leven te roepen, zodat liefhebbers ze kunnen kopen, omdat ze eenmaal getekend worden en daarna gedupliceerd op mooi 300 grams papier zijn de kosten vrij laag te houden. Zodat zijn fans alsnog kunnen genieten van origineel werk. De prints zijn op verschillende formaten te koop. Net als de originele characters besloot Roland ook tribute prints te maken waar characters op staan waar mee hij op groeide. As a comicbook enthusiast, Roland likes to own original drawings of his favorite illustrators, alas those are really expensive, that s why he decided to create affordable prints of his own creations for the fans to own, that are quite affordable. These prints are printed on nice 300 grams stock. With his own characters. Roland made tributes as well depicting characters he loved Moontoons.nl
