8 Ceiling systems Ceilings usually have an indistinctive character in the space surrounding us. In daily life, as well as in architecture, they are seldom noticed. Kreon ceiling solutions will make these anonymous surfaces come alive: structure, relief and symmetric shadow gaps support the architectural rhythm of space whilst creating effects like rest, order... and even chaos. These atmospheres are moreover duly emphasised by the repetitive use of integrated luminaires arrays. Plafond systemen Plafonds hebben meestal een anoniem karakter in de ruimte rondom ons. In het dagelijks leven, evenals in de architectuur, worden ze zelden opgemerkt. 12 Vektron Clip-in The Vektron Clip-in system consists of a concealed supporting structure to which demountable tiles can be clipped. When the clip-in system is mounted, a shadow joint with a width of 6 mm and a depth of 8 mm is created accentuating the grid pattern and generating a unique design. Through the combination of the clip-in profile and specially developed connectors on the tile, a perfect levelling is ensured. Tiles of the clip-in system can be singularly and effortlessly removed, which simplifies eventual functional adaptations of space. Het Vektron Clip-in systeem bestaat uit een verborgen draagstructuur met inklikkende plafondtegels. Bij montage van het Clip-in systeem ontstaat er een schaduwvoeg met een breedte van 6 mm en een diepte van 8 mm die het rasterpatroon accentueert, wat een unieke vormgeving creëert. Door de combinatie van het clip-in profiel en de speciaal ontwikkelde klemnok in de Kreon tegels wordt het plafond perfect genivelleerd. Elke Kreon tegel van het Clip-in systeem kan snel en eenvoudig gedemonteerd worden. Hierdoor kunnen technische functies eenvoudig aangepast worden bij een wijziging van de ruimtefunctionaliteit. Een bijkomend voordeel van dit systeem is de beperkte inbouwdiepte waardoor het plafond zeer dicht kan aansluiten tegen de technische installaties in het plenum. 12

14 Clip-in Tiles Clip-in tiles are made of galvanised steel and protected with a UV-resistant powder coating. They are fire and corrosion resistant. The perforated tiles incorporate a sound absorbing membrane which can be selected to respond to various acoustic requirements. 18 Clip-in Hinge Tile Hinge tiles give easy access to the ceiling void and are clipped into the same carriers. Maintenance on all kinds of techniques behind the ceiling can be performed while the hinge tile hangs vertically. Hinge tiles geven u de mogelijkheid om op een eenvoudige wijze het plenum te bereiken. De tegels worden in dezelfde profielen geklikt als de Clip-in tegels. Wanneer de Hinge-tile wordt losgeklikt, zal deze op twee scharnierpunten in de profielen blijven hangen. 20 Edge finishing - Randafwerking Kreon ceiling solutions offers several perimeter solutions to finish edges and hide underlying structures. C-Wall, W-Wall and L-Wall are surface mounted to the wall. Edge cover L-connection and Edge Cover Plaster provide the opportunity to connect your Clip-in ceiling with a gypsum ceiling. Edge Cover provides a standard finish to floating ceilings. 22 Bulkhead Bulkhead panels create an elegant transition between two ceiling levels. Tiles are clipped into the same carriers ensuring a rigid construction to the ceiling transition and can be tailored to specified depths where the parameters below should be taken into account. Bulkhead panelen zorgen voor een elegante overgang tussen twee plafondniveaus. 24 Sub construction - Onderconstructie The sub construction comprises a supporting grid with two identical profiles (H=25mm/ W=18mm), joined by cross connectors. The entire sub construction is made of thermo galvanised steel and with few additional components, quick and simple assembly is enabled. 36 Zenon Lay-on In addition to the clip-in system, Kreon now also offers a bandraster system. This system enables the tiles to be hooked into a profile grid. All tiles are custom-made, which ensures a seamless marriage between the ceiling solution and the interior design. The perforated tiles incorporate a sound absorbing membrane which can be selected to respond to various acoustic requirements. 44 Materials & colours Colour, material and contrast raise anonymous surfaces into determining elements within architecture. In order to offer as many possible choices to enhance your architecture, Kreon presents a wide pallet of ceiling colours. All products can be delivered in any RAL colours (see page 204 for ordering advice). Kreon tiles are powder coated with a minimal thickness of 50 micron and a gloss level between 3% and 20% according to Gardner 60. This low gloss level generates depth effect and bears a smooth ambiance. Products are colour matched for the purpose of optimal integration between lighting and services. 46 Perforations Perforations do not only determine the appearance of your ceiling, but also contribute to the comfort attributes of your space. They also assist in acoustic control and can influence air circulation. Kreon offers a choice of perforations that differ in shape, pattern and size. 56 Acoustics The choice for a specific ceiling has strong influence on the acoustic properties of space. It is fundamental to the planner to take sound behaviour and function of space into account while defining the most appropriate ceiling. The noise level in an area is determined by the source and reflection of sound on walls, floors and ceilings. Sometimes these reflections are desired in cases in which, for example, speech intelligibility must overcome large distances. Most likely though, reflections can be inconvenient because high noise nuisance may arise and disturb privacy. Two are the properties to be considered in the design of suspended ceilings: sound absorption and sound attenuation (longitudinal noise). Through its varied range of ceiling tiles with different acoustic properties, Kreon can respond appropriately to any acoustic demand. Akoestiek De keuze van het plafond heeft een sterke invloed op de akoestische eigenschappen van de ruimte. Het is voor de planner belangrijk te begrijpen hoe geluid zich in de ruimte gedraagt, zodat het meest geschikte plafond kan gekozen worden in functie van de ruimte en het gebruik ervan. Het geluidsniveau in een ruimte wordt bepaald door een geluidsbron en de reflectie van dit geluid tegen wanden, vloer en plafond. Soms zijn deze reflecties gewenst, bijvoorbeeld wanneer er over grotere afstanden voldoende spraakverstaanbaarheid moet gerealiseerd worden. Maar vaak zijn deze reflecties ongewenst omdat hierdoor een hinderlijk hoog geluidsniveau kan ontstaan of omdat zij de privacy kunnen verstoren. Er zijn twee akoestische eigenschappen waarmee men rekening dient te houden bij het ontwerp van verlaagde plafonds: geluidsabsorptie (sound absorption) en overlangse geluidsisolatie (sound attenuation). Door zijn verscheidenheid aan akoestische eigenschappen leent het Kreon systeemplafond er zich toe om voor verschillende situaties een gepaste oplossing te bieden. 56

59 Geluidsabsorptie Geluidsabsorptie is de mogelijkheid van een oppervlak om geluid te absorberen waardoor de reflectie van geluid in de ruimte wordt geminimaliseerd. De gereflecteerde geluiden worden later waargenomen dan de initiële geluiden. Hierdoor ontstaat er een echo, neemt het geluidsniveau toe, zal de initiële boodschap minder duidelijk worden waargenomen en kan er een onaangenaam gevoel ontstaan. De geluidsabsorptie wordt bepaald door de nagalmtijd (reverberation time). Dit is de tijd (uitgedrukt in seconden) waarin het geluid 60dB vervalt. De mate waarin een materiaal geluid kan opnemen wordt uitgedrukt in de geluidsabsorptiecoëfficiënt (α W ). Deze wordt gemeten volgens ISO 354 / EN20354 (acoustics: measurement of sound aborption in a reverberation room). De geluidsabsorptiecoëfficiënt is de fractie van het invallende geluidsvermogen dat wordt geabsorbeerd. De rest van het geluidsvermogen wordt terug in de ruimte gereflecteerd. De absorptiecoëfficiënt is afhankelijk van de frequentie van het geluid en wordt meestal gemeten bij elke octaafband tussen 125 en 4000 Hz. De geluidsabsorptiecoëfficiënt heeft een waarde tussen nul (geen absorptie, al het geluid wordt gereflecteerd) en één (volledige absorptie en is vergelijkbaar met een open raam). Kreon plafondsystemen absorberen geluid doordat ze geluidsgolven door het geperforeerde vlak laten passeren waarna het reageert met het achterliggende materiaal: op maat gefabriceerde en gesealde mineraalwol modules. Afhankelijk van de dikte (20 of 30mm) en de densiteit (50kg/m³) kunnen waardes bekomen worden van 0,8-0,9. De grootte en het patroon van de perforaties in de tegel dragen ook bij tot de geluidsabsorptiewaarde van de tegel. 61 Overlangse geluidsisolatie Vaak wordt er gekozen voor een volledig verlaagd plafond omdat dit een optimale flexibiliteit toelaat. Deze manier van werken biedt een lagere geluidsisolatie in vergelijking met situaties waar scheidingswanden door het verlaagd plafond steken of aan het bouwkundig plafond zijn bevestigd. Indien de scheidingswanden niet tot aan het bouwkundig plafond doorlopen, ontstaat er een horizontale transmissiemogelijkheid voor geluid via de ruimte tussen het bouwkundig en verlaagd plafond (het plenum). Daarom bieden traditionele metalen plafonds op zich vaak onvoldoende geluidsisolatie. Daarom dienen in deze gevallen extra maatregelen getroffen te worden zoals het aanbrengen van extra mineraalwol en gipsplaten. Deze hebben aanvullende akoestische eigenschappen die ervoor zorgen dat het plafond de vereiste karakteristieken bekomt. Wanneer men deze oplossing wil gaan toepassen moet er rekening gehouden worden met: - de totale constructie - de waarden op de bouwplaats die lager zijn dan de laboratoriumwaarden (een vermindering van 5-8dB) De overlangse geluidsisolatie wordt uitgedrukt in D n.c.w. (room to room sound attenuation), uitgedrukt in db. Dit is een laboratoriumwaarde die gemeten werd conform de Europese normen EN en EN150717/1. Om voldoende privacy in landschapskantoren te garanderen, wordt er aangeraden om een geluidsisolatie tussen aangrenzende ruimtes te voorzien van 35dB. 96 Down Spotting with light Down provides depth to architecture through a unique system of built-in louvre. Down consists of two elements: the luminaire housing mounted on the tile and the louvre for the seamless finish. The seamless design is obtained through a special screwless installation frame. This metal frame employs a simple clip system to hold the louvre. The louvres can be oblique or perpendicular and are available in several colours. A combined movement of rotation and angular adjustment coexist with dedicated optics. With a vertical drop of 50mm and an inclination of 30, the luminaire can be adjusted to direct light where required. The basic concept of this product family is to capture light in a small surface mounted box. Tailor made profiles are pre-wired and equipped according to lighting specifications. Luminaires can be recessed in- Line or semi-recessed in-dolma. Crucial for architectural lighting, the flow of the luminance is barely interrupted due to an innovative OLDP (opalised linear de-glaring prism) optic. Intelligent construction and modulation make tool less assembly and installation into the Prologe profiles possible. 146 Prologe 145 in-line & in-dolma 145mm wide Lighting troughs are created between rows of tiles by introducing prefabricated anodised aluminium profiles that support the Prologe elements. Tailor made profiles are pre-wired and equipped according to lighting specifications. Luminaires can be recessed in- Line or semi-recessed in-dolma. Met behulp van de geprefabriceerde aluminium prologe profielen, kunnen in uw Kreon plafond 145mm brede sleuven gemaakt worden waarin lichtelementen verzonken zitten. De op maat gemaakte profielen zijn steeds voorbekabeld en worden volgens uw lichtontwerp gerealiseerd. The reflector ensures a wide and homogeneous uplight distribution. In some models, direct downlight is also available to increase the illumination level immediately under the luminaire. 172 Vento Good air quality is an essential requirement for every indoor environment. It has direct effects on performance and health of people who use these places. To ensure optimum air quality, Kreon s ventilation system Vento offers a solution that is extremely efficient as well as elegant. Vento system consists of a highly inductive ventilation element, which can be discreetly installed between Kreon tiles. It provides draught-free and diffuse ventilation with minimum airflow. The highinduction ventilation element ensures an optimum mixture of supply and ambient air. The specially designed ventilation element is standard delivered in black, but any required ceiling colour is also possible. It ensures optimum air discharge at a 45 angle, which prevents soiling on the ceiling. Goede luchtkwaliteit is een noodzaak in elke binnenruimte. These jets are mainly directed into the room under an angle of 45. Another smaller portion of jets discharge vertically downwards. This combination stabilises the flow and fills the flow pattern centre with air. High induction, with the associated rapid reduction in airstream temperature, is a further positive feature of the diffuser concept. It reduces drastically the dependence of airflow patterns within a room on supply-air temperature and room height. 174
