4 VLAAMS BEVOLKINGSONDERZOEK BORSTKANKER Sinds 2001 Vrouwen jaar Twee- jaarlijks gratis mammografie: beoordeeld door twee radiologen onafhankelijk van elkaar Jaarlijks worden +/- 400,000 uitnodigingen verstuurd 200,000 screeningen/jaar

18 SCHATTING VAN OVERDIAGNOSE Vergelijken van aantal kankers: Vrouwen gescreend voor 20 jaar excess aan kankers = overdiagnosis Vrouwen niet gescreend Maar beide populaties moeten volledig vergelijkbaar zijn: - Leeftijd - Blootstelling aan risicofactoren voor borstkanker - Beschikbaarheid aan behandeling
