We kicked off together with some warming up exercises to music under the guidance of our group 8 students. The groups 4 thru 8 then started their sports day activities with a long distance run. All children were assigned to teams in different age groups and each team was named after a sport's hero. Doing the different exercises together and supporting each other was a wonderful sight to see. Everybody participated with full dedication. Having fun was the main goal! All-in all a beautiful day that both children and teachers enjoyed. Please let us thank the sports day committee and all parents involved in the sports day activities for their support. On Wednesday 8 November our group 8 students will partake in the yearly 'Bukit Tinggi Friendship Day'. GESS, Swiss School, SKIS and HSL students will be mixed up in teams and will get to know one another by working on assignments together, competing against each other and spending time together. The objective of this day is to strengthen mutual collaboration, getting to know each other and expanding the international experience for all. The AGM is taking place on Wednesday 8 November. At these meetings the social / emotional and cognitive development of the students is discussed. Report cards for our groups 1 thru 8 students will be issued to the children on Friday 17 November. Attached to this newsletter's you will find the submission slip for these parent teacher meetings. On this slip you may indicate your preference for a time/date for your meeting. Please return your submission slip to your group teacher by Wednesday 1 November, 12 noon, at the latest. We will try to incorporate your preferred time into our schedule but cannot guarantee all preferences will be honored. On Friday 10 November your group teacher will send you an stating when and at what time you will be expected. For students in our special needs program the evaluation and conclusion of their individual action plans will coincide with their parent teacher meeting. This means their special needs teachers will automatically attend these meetings. There will be no supervision for children on the school premises after school hours. In case you are bringing your children to school during the parent teacher meetings, please know they remain strictly under your responsibility. We kindly suggest not bringing any children to school on this occasion. 2

3 De Hollandse School Limited zoekt voor peuterschool Jip en Janneke een Peuterleidster (m/v) Parttime De Hollandse School in Singapore is een Nederlandstalige peuter-/basisschool met in totaal 360 leerlingen (60 peuterschool/300 basisschool). De HSL verzorgt onderwijs aan kinderen van ouders die in Singapore werkzaam zijn en vaak een internationale woonomgeving met zich meebrengen. Het bestuur wordt onder meer gevormd door vertegenwoordigers van bedrijven die de school hebben opgericht in Jip en Janneke is een school voor peuters van 2 tot 4 jaar, die door zowel een Engelse leerkracht als een Nederlandse leerkracht in groepen van maximaal 18 leerlingen worden geleid. Peuterschool Jip en Janneke is onderdeel van de Hollandse School Ltd. De functie is voor 2.5 dag per week. De werktijden zijn van uur (uitgezonderd verlengde schooldagen). De vakantieperiodes van de HSL zijn tevens de vakantiedagen van de leerkrachten, uitgezonderd de eerste week en de laatste week van de zomervakantie en de in-service trainingsdagen. Functie-eisen: Kwalificaties als Sociaal Pedagogisch werker, bevoegd peuterleidster of een volledige bevoegdheid tot het geven van onderwijs in het primair onderwijs in Nederland/Vlaanderen (SPH/PABO) Ook kandidaten met als achtergrond MWD/Psychologie/Pedagogiek/ Sociologie worden uitgenodigd om te solliciteren Het strekt tot aanbeveling als er ervaring is in de peuteropvang Uitstekende communicatieve vaardigheden in het Engels en Nederlands Van een kandidaat wordt verwacht dat hij/ zij: Een initiatiefrijk persoon is die het uitdagend vindt om in een Nederlands/Engelstalige omgeving te werken Een warme persoonlijkheid is met passie voor het werken met jonge kinderen Verder verwachten we dat de kandidaat een teamplayer is, positief en stressbestendig is en beschikt over een flexibel, optimistisch karakter, uitstekende sociale en communicatieve vaardigheden en gevoel voor humor. Arbeidsovereenkomst: Een contract tot het einde van het schooljaar (30 juni 2018), met uitzicht op verlenging. 3

5 Dear Hollandse School Limited members/parents, We are pleased to invite you to the 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Hollandse School Limited (HSL). The meeting will be held on Wednesday November 8th, 8 pm at school. The agenda for the meeting is provided below. As of November 1, you will be able to review the Financial Statements of the school year and the budget for the school year These will all be made available at the school's administrative office. During the AGM the board will give account of its policies. Naturally this is also an opportunity to address any questions. You can ask your questions during the AGM, but the board would appreciate it if you can provide your questions beforehand to a representative of the Board (bestuurhsl@hollandseschool.org) or Advisory Council (adviesraad@hollandseschool.org). Your role during the meeting is as one of the HSL members, as described in the company acts. Voting rights are conferred on persons registered as member of HSL. Each member can appoint a proxy to represent this member during the AGM. The proxy needs not be a member of HSL. For more information on this please see the HSL articles of association available at the administration. The meeting will be concluded with drinks.
