The mass is connected to a dashpot with damping c. The vertical response of the mass is x(t) (measured with respect to the position of static equilibrium). 4 Question 2 (2.0 points) Figure 2 shows a system of a disk with mass moment of inertia J, which at its mass center is connected to a rotational spring with stiffness k r. The disk further is rigidly connected to a rigid, massless beam. The beam is supported by a dashpot with damping c and a spring with stiffness k. The base to which the spring and dashpot are connected experiences an excitation x( t) xˆsin t. It may be assumed that the rotation of the disk remains small, such that sin tan and cos 1. a) Draw the free-body diagrams of the individual subsystems. Derive the equation of * * * motion in the form J c k M( t), using the equations that apply to the individual subsystems. Here, J*, c* and k* are the effective mass moment of inertia, the effective damping and the effective stiffness of the system, respectively, and M(t) reflects the external loading related to the base excitation. b) Derive the steady-state response ss (t). 6 Question 4 (2.5 points) Figure 4 shows a system of a mass m that is connected to two springs with stiffness k. The upper spring is attached to an infinitely stiff cable that is guided around a pulley. The mass moment of inertia of the pulley (measured about its mass center) is J=mr 2, with r the radius of the pulley. The right end of the cable is subjected to a harmonic loading F( t) Fˆ cos t. The translational response of the mass is x(t) (measured with respect to the position of static equilibrium), and the rotational response of the pulley is (t). It may be assumed that the rotation remains small, such that sin tan and cos 1. a) Draw the free-body diagrams of the subsystems, and derive the equations of motion of the system. Formulate the equations of motion in matrix-vector format. b) Compute the eigen frequencies of the system. c) Compute the steady-state responses x ss (t) and ss (t) of the system to the harmonic loading F(t). Plot the frequency-response functions H 12 () and H 22 (), clearly indicating the asymptotes and extremes (consider the translation x(t) as degree of freedom 1 and the rotation (t) as degree of freedom 2 ). De massa is verbonden met een demper met demping c. De verticale responsie van de massa is x(t) (gemeten ten opzichte van de positie van statisch evenwicht). De balken zijn volledig ingeklemd aan hun linker uiteinde. a) Leid de bewegingsvergelijking af in termen van de responsie x(t), waarbij de effectieve stijfheid moet worden uitgedrukt in termen van de systeemparameters in Figuur 1. b) Bereken de eigenfrequentie d van het gedempte systeem. c) Aannemende dat het systeem ondergedempt is, bereken de responsie ten gevolge van de begincondities x( 0) x0 en x ( 0) 0. 8 Vraag 2 (2.0 punten) Figuur 2 laat een systeem zien van een schijf met een massatraagheidsmoment J, welk in zijn massa-centrum is verbonden met een rotatieveer met stijfheid k r. De schijf is verder star verbonden met een starre, massaloze balk. De balk wordt ondersteund door een demper met demping c en een veer met veerstijfheid k. De ondergrond waaraan de veer en de demper zijn verbonden ondergaat een excitatie x( t) xˆsin t. Het kan worden aangenomen dat de rotatie van de schijf klein blijft, zodanig dat sin tan en cos 1. a) Schets de vrije-lichaamsdiagrammen van de individuele subsystemen. Leid de * * * bewegingsvergelijking af in de vorm J c k M( t), gebruik makende van de vergelijkingen die van toepassing zijn op de individuele subsystemen. Hierbij zijn J*, c* en k* respectievelijk het effectieve massatraagheidsmoment, de effectieve demping en de effectieve stijfheid van het systeem, en M(t) representeert de externe belasting gerelateerd aan de excitatie van de ondergrond. b) Leid de steady-state responsie ss (t) af. 10 Vraag 4 (2.5 punten) Figuur 4 laat een systeem zien van een massa m welk is verbonden aan twee veren met stijfheid k. De bovenste veer zit vast een een oneindig-stijve kabel, welk wordt geleid om een katrol. Het massatraagheidsmoment van de katrol (gemeten om het massacentrum) is J=mr 2, met r de straal van de katrol. Het rechteruiteinde van de kabel wordt onderworpen aan een harmonische belasting F( t) Fˆ cos t. De translatie-responsie van de massa is x(t) (gemeten met betrekking to de positie van statisch evenwicht), en de rotatieresponsie van de katrol is (t). Het kan worden aangenomen dat de rotatie klein blijft, zodanig dat sin tan en cos 1. a) Schets de vrije-lichaamsdiagrammen van de individuele subsystemen, en leid de bewegingsvergelijkingen van het systeem af. Formuleer de bewegingsvergelijkingen in matrix-vector formaat. b) Bereken de eigen frequenties van het systeem. c) Bereken de steady-state responsies x ss (t) and ss (t) van het systeem ten gevolge van de harmonische belasting F(t). Schets de frequentie-responsie functies H 12 () en H 22 (), waarbij duidelijk de asymptoten en extremen dienen te worden aangegeven (beschouw hierbij de translatie x(t) als vrijheidsgraad 1 en de rotatie (t) als de vrijheidsgraad 2 ).
